Default Playstation Network Virus

I just got internet in my house and have been gearing up to play on the playstation network. Right before I connected the ethernet cord I was on the phone with my buddy. He told me STOP! He said that Playstation Network has a virus right now that will take away single ayer gaming or something like that. Anybody have any info on this situation. I want to play online bad, but now I'm scared.

I haven't heard of a virus, but I know theres a bug that causes you not to be able to play online for 24 hours my brother one of his friends and I got it on Sunday and were able to play again on Monday. My lil bro called Sony and they said that they don't know what's causing it but there working on a solution to prevent this from happening and it has something to do with trophies not syncing. It seems to be happening a lot with codmw 2

Yeah, it was just a bug (I wouldnt say it was a virus/there were no reports of anyones ps3 being corrupted or anything like that) and it wouldnt let you sign into psn (online) and even in some cases it wouldnt let you play the game period whether you were online or not. They worked on it pretty well though it was fixed within 24 hours. Everythings all good now.

Edit: It sucks cause I was doing nothing that day and I was so bored and when I went to go pass some time I couldnt even play!

I can't stand it when the uninformed pass along misinformation (your buddy, not you, OP).

The PS3 suffered from a bug known as Y2K+10. The older version of the ps3 recognized this year as a leap year (which it is not). When it came time to log on, the dates did not correspond and it caused an error.

Lots of devices other than PS3 experienced a similar issue.

No harm was done to any PS3, unless someone threw it at a wall trying to get their COD fix.
