Default gameloft cuts android efforts, says they're not alone

Gameloft says it, others reining in Android plans

the plot thickens over on planet droid

FTA: "It is not as neatly done as on the iPhone. Google has not been very good to entice customers to actually buy products. On Android nobody is making significant revenue,"

Seems like an unfair compairison as apple had quite a headstart, IMO.

We were just talking about this a couple nights ago and how we figured the iPhone apps had pretty much peaked. When you sit down and figure it out, there really aren't that many apps for the iPhone, just lots of different apps that do the same thing. We haven't found anything that's actually new for our iPhone for quite some time. We figured that with Android on the rise it would be a good place to start making apps now, especially since the iPhone and the Storm may both be replaced with Android phones soon. Seriously though, do you want to keep making repeat apps that are already played out or do you want to get on something new that is growing? I think I'd go for the long-term myself.

I like where android is heading. Both hardware support wise, and software support wise. Definitely the rising star as I can't stand the way Apple clamps user freedom.

I just report the stuff i see

well let me be blunt and say that you wont see games be a big factor as much as they are like on the iphone cause its easier to develop games for the iphone because the hardware is static, for android its all over the map.

With that being said, i dont buy a 500 dollar phone to game...mostly because they all suck (can i get an old school Final Fantasy in this biya?)

I'd rather see creative apps being made, rather than trying to port ty games over to phones trying to make revenue. Remember devs, people arent going to buy quality products, the same applies for phone software.

So I guess for now, when it comes to games, they'd now have to say:

DroidCould

Oh well, sucks if you're into gaming, for everyone else, it's not that big a deal...just hope other developers aren't staying away.

I'm not a phone gamer either (I'd rather play an Atari 2600 on a 13" tv...lol), so this doesn't affect me, but I still think that there's long-term money to be made with Android and dumping them right now while they're just getting started seems irresponsible to me. They may regret it later...
