Holy crap I hope most of that is true I would love a storm the thickness of the iPhone with a 19 sec boot time! Widgets would be nice too, I bought my wife an HTC Android Eris and I love the widgets. To tell you the truth with the amount I've played with her phone I'm really digging the Android phones with the Sense UI, very responsive and VERY fast. Is so much smoother than my Storm. So hopefully this early information is reliable, because if it is, that will be my next phone I believe, one exception though if they go with a slide out keyboard I will not be getting it, I get touch screens for a reason.....

Hopefully the new browser will be much faster than the current one, which is pretty sluggish of you ask me, which is why I use Opera Mini 5 beta 2. I do hope that it will be more customizable like the Droid. I know its a BB but I still think RIM should try to cater to more people. I hope the S3 is a lot better than the first because I like BBs but am disappointed in it and if no major improvements come by then I will be forced to move on to something else.

Nice funding and posting. I am pretty close to giving up on RIM but after reading that write up I am excited to see what is in store for us. Only thing is that the comparison is to current phones. I have a feeling the new models from other companies will outdo the S3.

OMG! I kept my Storm 1 even after upgrading to the 9700. If this Storm 3 ever surfaces, you can bet I'll be chompin at the bit...great thread, got my heart going a little. I need to sit!

Anyone know if it will be LTE (...and not CDMA...)?!

I wonder that too. If its as thin as an iPhone I don't see how they can fit the mechinisms and retain that thinness. I could be wrong but the neither article talks about it. And if there is no "click" then the OS will differ from S1-S2

Its great to see they have a working demo already. This should give them time to work out any bugs, but from the sounds of it, it was already functioning well.
RIM should also be sending out an OS for Third Party Developers so they can make adjustments to apps. And boy do I wonder if the OS will work on S1 or S2? I am perfectly content with the S2, but would love to see widgets on it. - 01-01-2010, 10:45 PM #14
Update: I got a few more minutes with the device today so a few extra things of note.
1. The version of the ever popular google maps with turn by turn voice navigation was loaded and worked beautifully.
2. The phone is 4G compatible
3. Internally the phone is known as S3-i1 however a newer prototype to be finished shortly will be dubbed S3-d5.
4. RIM is trying to finalize the software and hardware so it can makes it's public debut during WES, April 2010
5. The phone will be released this year and is being marketed to compete directly against the Android.
6. The model number for the S3 = 958*
According to this:

Hey!
This is GREAT news!
I don't hate my Storm anymore, but I don't exactly love it.
It's (finally) become acceptable... but I'm ready to move on.
I was going to get the Droid during the year, but if this whole thing is true, then I'll be in line for S3!!! - 01-01-2010, 10:57 PM #17
LTE will be the thing i really look for most i think. I hate buying phones so much so if this is LTE capable im certainly sold on it

Is there a list anywhere for the locations and release dates for when VZW plans on releasing LTE? I live in Pittsburgh and am hoping its this year when they start releasing it.

30 Markets at "sometime" in 2010. Very vague about the details still. Seattle and Boston will be included in the list apparently.

Yea I remember seeing something vague like that. No doubt they'll start in all of the major cities/markets this year. I'm sure my area won't get it until next year at the earliest.

Hmmmm, my NE2 comes up in September, so that should be around release time for the S3 unless it makes it to market earlier.
Sounds very interesting... - 01-02-2010, 03:19 PM #24Crackberry Rule 92: No more “goodbye storm, hello xxxxx” posts. They suck worse than you do.
