Default A Very Sad Goodbye to my Crackberry

So I was one of those suckers who purchased the storm as soon as I could. Now I am turning it one of those (hopefully not suckers) who have moved on to droid X.

Don't et me wrong, I love blackberry, its just that there is not a device out that satisfies my needs. Now in my opinion my droid x, which I should be getting by next week, will fulfill all my phone crack needs. I say this because I do not know many people with a Blackberry so the whole bbm thing doesn't bother me much. Scratch that, I'm really pissed off that I was never able to get into the stupid BBM beta, but i'll live.

My past 2 years replacing storm after storm for free (thanks to Big Red over there who you can talk into almost anything, like my early upgrade and my free next day before 3:00pm shipping on my Droid X) was a very special part of my life. My first smartphone, my first crackberry (hopefully not my last if they get they eventually come out with something that will suit my wants), my first life line (other cell phones don't count).

I had phone with Crackberry.com and plan on still atleast reading the forums (since I'm pretty bad at typing, see current thread) and maybe even still trying to participate. Crackberry has become a second home to me where I have had time to spend and read the (crazy psycho) posts, which were always entertaining to say the least. I've learned a lot from Crackberry.com, I've learned that (most) people will actually help you and not be assholes even if you didn't search (which is kinda dumb) but I also learned that if I could help someone by sending them to a different post or actually being able to respond that I should. Crackberry may just be a forum for some people, but to others, whether they post or not, it is a community where they can come and be themselves (or not).

Hopefully I will still be able to participate and help the Crackberry world grow even though I am moving into the Android black hole. I can express how much these forums have helped me do so much more than I expected to do with my precious storm.

My fondest memory of all (in a close second is winning tetherberry for free from crackberry within a month of getting my phone) is when I decided that I would finally start testing beta OS's. Unfortunately because of my precision or lack of I seemed to have bricked my phone. I was so pissed off that threw it on the ground (somehow not breaking it) and walked away from my computer, for a matter of a minute tops. Then jumped right back on and searched all throughout the forums to find out how to fix this problem. After finding the fix I was glad it was fixed and started to load the beta OS again. Then the power went out. Bad luck that day I suppose, but it was fun to have to pull out my training from my chocolate days (that means how to talk verizon into giving you a free replacement rather than spend the $50 for insurance) and had a new storm later that day.

Yea that is a boring story. But for now I must head to bed and say farewell to the "slaterberry" as my friends have named it (or my new hand). I owe all this great involvement thus far (and hopefully more to come) to the whole crackberry community, especially everyone who does the behind the scenes.

Hopefully I will see myself with a blackberry again soon.

Thank you for the great crackberry experience.

You were pissed because you don't have friends with BBs allowing you to participate in BB beta or you were pissed you weren't invited?

If the latter, BBM went into open beta a long time ago.

    IN any case, good bye

I don't blame you. I'm still torn between the two. I love the new Droid but the easy accessibility of BB has proven to be useful for my business and everyday needs. I guess if you're looking for a phone that can utilize many apps, the Droid will be the one. I don't know what side I'm leaning towards...let me know how that new Droid will be for you.
