Default Storm Screen not responding, all sluggish

As of today my screen has been responding veeeery slowly when it's locked. It goes into screensaver mode (e.g black screen) but when I want to activate it again it takes forever to do so (really, minutes, no kidding). Then when I finally manage to get it working again the whole thing just moves so slowly and the typing in BBM or SMS just goes so sluggish.
I did several battery pulls already with both the phone still on and off. None of it helped.

Could this be a hardware issue? I recently (2 months ago) had my screen replaced because it was broken after a little tumble. Maybe it's not properly connected anymore. I haven't had this problem before.

Also, I'm considering a full wipe or re-install of the latest OS (5.00.451) but do I need to wipe my entire phone to do that?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Its possible it is a hardware issue, but lets not rule out software just yet. His much available app memory do you have?

17,7 mb free. I've had even less over the past few weeks.

I believe its a OS issue. I upgraded to 5.0 and less than a week later that started happening. Once went back to 4.7 the problem went away.

This sounds like something that happened to my phone 2 weeks ago. When you have the "black screen" that doesn't appear to be responding, try taking a picture. If the flash goes off or you hear the camera sound, it means your screen isn't functioning properly. If you get nothing, it's probably the OS.

Like I said, this happened to me a few weeks ago. When I was stuck with a black screen for a few minutes, typing on the screen would blindly cause actions to happen without me being able to actually see them on the screen...like taking a picture or opening whatever random icons I happened to have blindly pushed. When the screen finally came on, whatever I took a picture of a few minutes earlier would be displayed. Then at times when the screen was "working", the phone would appear to freeze. However, it wasn't actually frozen because it would blindly do whatever I was telling it to do. For example, if I was typing an email and the phone appeared to freeze, I could continue to type on the keyboard and it would appear like nothing was happening. I could blindly scroll up and press were I thought the "send" button was and the full email would be sent.

My phone was almost a year old. I took it to Verizon and they replaced it for free.

I downloaded the BB Light app and it slowed my Storm down REAALLYY bad. Once I deleted it, it quit being slow.
