Default Srorm 9500 Screen Problem

Today, I dropped my Storm, and not for the first time. This time, however, I seem to have done it some real damage, as the screen will no longer light up. If I squeeze the side, or twist the case, then the screen will light up, but not stay lit, and it flickers from dim to bright to dim. It seems obvious that something has broken inside the phone. Does anyone know if this sort of thing can be repaired? I am going to be totally lost without my Storm tomorrow, and nearly bought another one off of eBay tonight, but I thought I'd be sensible first, and at least try to get it fixed.

Second question is, if I do have to get another one, it will have a different PIN code. Does that mean I will have to repurchase all of my apps?

From what I've seen, you can buy a new screen, and with a little patience you can install it yourself...if the screen itself is what's broken. I'm not totally sure on the 2nd, but Desktop Manager has a device switch app, you should be able to send everything, including apps, over to a new device. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply.

It seems to be the backlight that's busted, rather than the screen, and I'm hoping it's just a broken connection that can be fixed.

Yeah, I realised that for the second point, but wasn't sure if apps were registered to PIN codes.

Cool, I hope it's fixable. If you log in to app world via Paypal info, it might also trade over apps to new phone, not really sure on that though.

I have the same problem.. went to a repairshop but they put in a new screen and that didn't fix the problem.. so they say it's something else and they couldn't fix it!!!
With mine also the screen lights up when I push it very firmly.. so it's not the screen that's broken..

They offered me a new screen, at a cost of £75, but couldn't guarantee it would fix the problem. It seems more like a problem with the backlight to me, as the screen works fine, when it's lit up.
