Angry S1 still rings when set to vibrate or silent??

I currently have my 3rd 9530 due to various problems since purchasing my first BB this summer. I use custom ringtones from my stored music on my BB. When I set the sound profile to "vibrate only" or "silent", my phone still rings on incoming calls. I can silence the ring by setting profile to "All Alerts Off", but would like to have the option of vibrate. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What OS are you running on the phone? 5.0.328 or something else?

Same thing is happenign to me, this is my third storm and the least of my problems with the phone but still having my phone go off in when it needs to be silent sucks, it only happens with email facebook and sometimes text for me though. My phone is also randomly vibrating and flashing the LED when i have no messages.

+1 don't have this problem on .328

in fact, i used to be annoyed when I would be listening to music or watching a movie and a txt/email/msg would come in, the movie would be stopped or the song muted while the alert played (in standard profiles) and then the media would resume.

What I found was that by setting the phone to the vibrate profile, the device would still vibrate so that I knew a message came in, but the media channels would remain uninterrupted and the move/song would continue on playing. Good times with this phone.

the reason i asked is because i had this problem intermittently with 4.7 and made a "vibrate" profile of my own to get it to be silent. doesn't seem to be an issue since 5.0.

I have the .328 OS. One rep at my local verizon store said this was an oversight in programming when you do not use the "canned" ringtones. They have been very helpful and courteous, but they frequently contradict each other when addressing my various issues. This was also a problem prior to upgrading to the .328 OS. Thanks for your imput.

I remember there was something to solve it like using "active profile" for your volume when on vibrate/silent but I can't remember where to change it.

I just checked my settings (i use all custom alerts)

When the profile was set to silent, when i went to ringtones in the options menu, the volume was listed as "silent"

When I went back without changing anything there, and changed the ring profile from the home screen, the "silent" changed to a volume value when i went back into ringtones in the options screen.

It was also listed as "silent" when i changed the profile to vibrate only.

Again this is with completely custom mp3 tones as sounds.

Thanks to cdowner and kinggeoff I have figured it out. I have a custom ringtone set up thru options/sounds and ringtones for most of my incoming calls. Here you have a numerical value without the active profile choice. However, when I assigned certain ringtones for a few individuals, I selected a numerical value to compensate for variations in volume of different tunes. This is where the problem was. By changing the individual volume to active profile, the problem appears to be solved. Thanks.

Hopefully that works for you, I dont have custom alerts for different contact so that cant be the cause for everyone.

After working on this for a while, I don't think it matters if it is a custom or canned ringtone. If you edit a contact, selecting a unique ringtone, just be sure the volume is set to the active profile option and not a numerical value.
