Default My screen fell off...

My phone was sitting on a table, screen down. When I picked it up the screen was separated from the rest of the phone. Almost like it's glued in there but the glue came off.

Anyone know what I should do? It's a refurbished phone I got from the insurance company /= . I've only had it for a few months but I'm not sure how old it actually is.

It still works. The screen still works, the buttons all work. It's just that the screen is separated. Should I glue it back in somehow? I don't really want to keep rubber bands on my phone from now on because of a lose screen -_- .

You should be able to just go back to your carrier and return it through insurance.
(I dont know how the insurance works but you should contact them or your carrier)

If there is no damage on the phone there is no reason for the screen to just fall off like that or for your carrier to blame it on you!

Edit: does the screen come completely off and stay attached with the connection, or does it just come off on the one side like the picture you posted ?

It's still connected by the wires, I doesn't come all the way off. The phone still works, but if it's set down upside down the screen falls out of the socket.

I contacted the insurance, and they consider "the screen falling off" as "physical damage", which void's all my warranties.

There's no damage on the phone, I haven't dropped it, there's no scrapes or dents or anything. It was sitting on a table face down, and the screen fell out. And now they want me to file a claim and pay $50 for a new one.

After watching some videos on how to take off an LCD screen, I've noticed that the screen part is attacked to some sort of metal backing. Usually these come together. If you were to buy a new LCD and replace it, they come together.

My phone, the screen came off from this metal backing part. It almost looks like it's glued to the metal backing and the glue failed.

If what you're saying is true, then I wouldn't take this one lying down.

I always find it funny when an insurance company for something trivial like "phone replacement" gets a big head an denies a ligitmate claim. Healthcare and auto can get away with it, because they are a necessity. You don't NEED cell phone insurance. We live in the age of customer service, and they should be bending over backwards for you... especially since they sent you a janky device.

There was a thread in the S2 forums about replacing the digitizer, and there is some double-sided tape holding some of those parts together that can be replaced by the consumer.

Not sure how much of it will be applicable to the S1, but you might get some ideas from the pictures.
