Brand New 9530 Owner With Problems.

Hi guys let me take this chance to introduce myself, this is my first post but I have been reading the forums for a while and a week ago I decided to buy a BB Storm. Overall the phone is OK. I am not really loving it but Ill give it time.
There are how ever a couple of major problems that I can´t live with.

1.The screen seems to be unresponsive around the edges, like when I want to press enter or the numbers key in portrait mode.

2.For some odd reason the phone numbers I save in my contacts don´t work when I call them from my contacts. I have to call them hang up and press the send key twice so there number shows up, and then call.

3.I don`t like the way it rings, the phone rings once, pauses, then rings again. I am missing alot of calls. Is there anyway to change it so it does not pause?

4.The phone is an unlocked Verizon Wireless Storm 9530 and I am using it on Movistar in Venezuela, I am currently here for work, and at the top of the phone it says Activation Required even though it is activated and I can send SMS MMS use BBM, Call, etc. Is this because it is unlocked?

5. Sometimes the phone says I have a SMS or a Message and the little * pops up even though there is nothing new in the folder, Ive deleted all Prior Opened all Prior, Ive tried everything. It wont go away.

So any help at all will really be appreciated, Thank you in advance.

I'm not one of the resident experts, but I figured I'd offer what I know...

1. The unresponsive around the edges thing is a design problem with the 9530, apparently solved in the 9550. There are some who recommend a solution involving a business card between the battery door and the battery, or somehow loosening the tiny screws involved. Its on this site in the forums in more then one place if you look for it.

Thats a long way of saying its not something easily/readily fixed without replacing the phone. My own 9530 isn't the best on the edges but its usable.

3. This one didn't jive for me; all phones pause in their ring tone unless you change it to like a song or something continuous, don't they? You could just change your ringer (click the speaker icon on the home page, scroll down to Set Ring Tones/Alerts and change it to one of the stock music files).

4. This reminded me of something I saw when I won an unlock code here on CB.com. The site that did it for me actually had instructions explicitly to address if you saw the "activation required". Instructions are here: How to enter your unlock code . See if that works.

I'm fringe around here, just a slow day at work and decided to pitch in. Hopefully you'll get some of the power users checking in; some of them really know their stuff/can really help.

Thanks for the help, I tried the How to remove "Activation Required" on the screen for Verizon Storm the phone is resetting right now. While I was in there I say some thing that says Countries Mobile Phone Code or something like that and it was 310 should I change that over here there are various Phone Codes because every Carrier has a different one. Movistar is 0414 but Movilnet is 0416 and Digitel is 0412 so anyone got some info on that?

Ok anyone know how to reset the Program Code supposed to be ##000000 or ##111111 but this is not working and Bell can't activate the phone?? The thing that bothers me here is that Bell should have any codes for this phone as it is locked to Bell.. And untill a couple days ago was working on my wifes acct

Ok I changed the Mobile Network Code to 00. And instead of saving a phone number like : 04141234567 I just save it like this 4141234567 and it works...
So check thoose 2 problems off... Thanks!

Edit: I can now call straight from my contacts but when some one calls my there name doesnt show up it just shows the number even if they are saved in my contacts.... this is killing me.
