Battery Problem Please Help

Okay blackberry masters here goes, bought an original blackberry storm and bought a new battery for it. The battery will not charge using a usb connector through the computer or a wall outlet. Have seen multiple threads regarding this issue. All I can think of that it is one of two issues.

1) The phone: Since its a used phone, all ports wear out over time maybe the previous owner did something to the phone and the microusb port is not sitting properly or tightly in the phone anymore. The only solution I can think for this is getting a standalone battery charger.

2) Software on phone: I loaded the latest OS update from blackberry's website. It seems that everytime it stops charging its at random intervals but sometimes happens when the blackberry goes to "sleep" (both from wall charger and usb through computer). Has anyone else have problems due to software, if so how did you fix it? How do you control when the blackberry goes to sleep.

im not sure what the deal is. ive had my storm1 and little over a year and its beginning to do the same thing...funny how after my 1yr warranty was up on july 22nd it shortly begin. it will show that its charging for a minute or two literally and of course once i look away and forget about it, it stops charging as if its playing a game. went to vzw corporate store and they immediatly diagnosed the problem being my charger of course. after the "super tech" actually looked she realized that the instore charger wasnt working either..therefore she informed me that its the charging port and thats when i was informed that my warranty had just ended. so my only option is to deal with it or make an insurance claim with asurion.
