the carriers do rigorous testing on the software to see which update works the best for the phones and then they release it, they dont come out often, those are the beta versions

| | re .86
There has actually been alot of discussion about the .86 update.
But the mod will lock and close the thread if you dont have any new information on the topic.
I'm guessing that this thread will be locked before it hits the second page.
To answer your question though.
The .86 is in testing and a few members here have the update and are testing it.
It has been told that it fixes the bugs in .85, and if thats true then it fixes some pretty big bugs.
I was on some other sites and read that the .86 will also include more multi touch features as well.

Yea, they have to make sure they do a large amount of testing to make sure all is well.

So is it just a software issue? If they could implement some smart uses for this, that would be very cool.

Think text selection and selecting multiple emails. It's just not implemented very widely.

More features will be added with new software updates.

I hear from someone that works for Verizon Wireless (he is a account manager not sales person) and he showed some info about it. What it looks like is that Verizon will release their next verson in about a month and it will be the .92 version

its been ~12 days since .85 leaked and since everyone was spoiled with 5 various updates (.75,.76,.78,.83,.85) in the last month, they now expect a leak every other day.
when something gets leaked, you'll know. if you dont see anything and can't find anything by searching.... you guessed it, ITS NOT OUT YET.

Yeah... if it's one thing I've learned here, when there's a software leak or release, you won't miss it |

I am a little suprised they would wait so long though (not long to me) but there are quite a few people on the fence because of the Jan 15th deadline, I assumed they would release something or atleast a leak to keep people at bay.

I may have read it wrong, but it seemed like CX was hinting that a release was imminent and then with all the issues with .83/.85 that came out... everyone went quiet...
But, I may have read it wrong!

But, I may have read it wrong! | I would be suprised if .92 was the next official and that it was already decided. How could they decide that a month ahead when people are still testing .86? If they already knew .92 was the next update they wouldnt waste time with any of the builds inbetween im sure and people would be beta testing .93+ in the meantime.

While all of this is fascinating, nobody in the know (cx, horizon, and don I am looking at you) are keeping everything quiet. Not of their choosing I know, when they get going you know its about to happen. I would guess that something will leak by next Monday. The bugs in .85 are god awful and I am sure they want to correct them as soon as possible.
