What the H? Can't upgrade OS....

I've had storm OS 5.0.0.328 for a while but I've been having problems lately. I deleted all of my applications but I still run down to between 0-10 mb app space, and the lag has been horrible lately. So I downloaded 5.0.0.797, installed it on my computer, uninstalled the old .328 off my computer. But now the only option it gives me on my app loader is facebook. Help would be appreciated

Did you remember to delete the Vender.xml file?

Check to make sure the files are there.. C:/program filed/common files/research in motion/shared/(797 folder)/java

You should have uninstalled .328 off first. Uninstall ALL listed OSs in Add/Remove Programs and then check the Shared folder and make sure no OS directories exist. If it's empty, then reinstall the .979 exe, delete the vendor.xml file and run AppLoader.exe instead of trying to run DM and installing through it.

I am in the process of "How to Shrink A OS" (Buckifvr) and saw this post. I uninstalled my previous incarnations of Blackberry Desktop Software ( currently show only "Blackberry Desktop Software 6.0" and "Blackberry Device Software Updater").

Sorry for the detail to follow, but please hang in there with me, as I am really am trying to make sure I get this done correctly the first time. Unfortunately my folder names aren't EXACTLY as described in Buckeye's "How to Shrink A OS" instructions but following the logic, I checked additional folders and see a Vendor.xml file among others. Detailing what and where I see them:

Following the process as described by Buckeye, I checked for any lingering files in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files folder and here is what still remains:

Aerize.loader [folder] AND MediaSyncMobile [folder]

....and the following items are still in these folders:

Aerize.loader [folder] -> aerize.loader.alx (file) and aerize.loader.cod (file)

in MediaSyncMobile [folder] -> net_rim_mediasync.alx (file)
and
-> For_6.0 [folder] -> are five net_rim_*.cod files

However, if I follow this pathway:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader then I see my Loader.exe (file) AND a bunch of .dll files AND Vender.xml

Question 1: Should that Vender.xml file be gone despite the folder it resides in?

Question 2: As described by Buckeye, the Share Loader folder should be empty, but I do not have a Shared\Loader folder. I do have a Shared\Applications folder only. Again, if I apply the logic in the Shrink A OS instructions and go into C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader folder, I see a bunch of .dll files and of four .dll files that have metadata that might be associated with previous OS.
Those four files are

1. app_loader.dll (5.0.1.28)
2. desktop_html_layout.dll (5.0.1.28)
3. rimprogram.dll (1.0.0.35)
4. CE.dll (2.0.0.7)

All other .dll files have 6.0.0.36 associated with them. Then there are the two Vender.xml and device.xml files.

What should I delete, if anything, from these files before proceeding?
