Default Video of OS 5.0 Running on Curve 8900

Sneak Peek: OS 5.0 Running on a BlackBerry Curve 8900! | CrackBerry.com

So the Storm is a shoe in for this updated OS right? Or maybe the Storm's OS will continue to be called 4.7, but will simply just receive some of the 5.0 OS features?

I'm sure there are a wider range of crucial enhancements that we don't know about, but that memory statistics option is pretty cool. I also like the new boot-up screen.

I'm pretty sure Radio has already said 5.0 is currently being tested. I can't remember if he said it was for the Storm too but I'm pretty sure it will be. Aren't all current devices said to be reverting to 5.0?

From what I understand the Storm will end up on 5.0 eventually, though I have a feeling that it will be one of the last Devices to get it.

I don't think he ever listed it was in testing for the Storm, but it might be and he may simply just not be able to confirm due to NDA.

5.0 looks more stable than the Storm's 4.7 right now, lol

As I recall, Radio said the plan is to support all 8xxx devices, and of course the Storm and newer devices.

I think the major goal of 5.0 is to get all devices under a largely similar codebase. As opposed to maintaining 5-6 different OS trees for different devices.

In a way it actually does, but in fairness, this thing had to have gone through all matters of testing and preparation for the 8900 for quite some time and the Storm hasn't had that luxury.

I'll say one thing though. It's just -- well -- unbelievable that we are getting videos of OS 5.0 and can't even get any video footage of later Storm OS upgrades. They don't even need to be leaked. Just give us a video :P

I'm hoping for a 5.0 release for WES 2009 but I highly doubt that'll happen.

All devices will move to 5.0 eventually. Currently there are quite a few teams testing various devices.

New Development and accelerating tools for the BlackBerry Storm smartphone?

Hopefully that means some means to access the graphics acceleration capabilities and other interesting things.
