Upgrade to .90 Do i lose my texts?

If i upgrade to .90 without backiing up. Do i lose all my texts and contacts?

And if i backup is it the same? I dont wanna lsoe my texts.

Yes you lose them if you don't backup everything.

They will stay the way they were.

Backup thru DM and 3rd party apps

Just do a backup before installing and then let it do its own back up when you install. I usually do that and then wipe everything before installing. Then just restore things like my texts, emails, custom dictionary, financial information and what not. Then I reinstall my apps one by one.

Its not required and I've had really good luck just installing over an old version and letting the backup restore everything but this other way allows you to get a hands on feel for what the OS is like with no apps on it.
