Unseen OS?!?!

This video released in October 08 shows off the Storm at some type of mobile conference.

Look how smooth this OS is, and how the keyboard glides up and down with the "swipe to show and hide" gesture.

The video was posted in October 2008...It had to be running .65 or a pre-release build.

Mine actually does run about that smooth. Aside from the keyboard sliding up that nice. Running .113 with only a couple apps.

is probably a pre-released version... they probably had a lot of things stripped to make it run that smooth...

This is one of the videos that was going around before the phone was even released. Notice the blue screen discoloration issues that were such a big deal pre-release.

I remember in the pre-release device simulators the screen rotation from portrait to landscape was animated...

I was at a Verizon Store picking up a new case for my Storm and while browsing the store I decided to check out one of the Storms on display.

Let me just say that I was blown away... The OS was fast, touchscreen and accelerometer were very responsive...basically it worked just like in that video.

I was so convinced it was running a new OS and decided to check the version and guess what!?....

It was frickin build 4.7.0.61!!!

I even took this picture because I was so shocked!

apparently when the storm was first shipped from rim to vzw, it was shipped with OS 4.7.0.82 . Verizon said it had alot of issues, and downgraded to .65 .

My accelerometer is faster than in the vid. Like others, apart from the sliding keyboard mine is as good or better.

My Curve is actually faster.

And the keyboard takes 0 seconds to appear.

The storm came with .61 on them when they first got to the store. They were supposed yo be updated the morning if the release to .65. Not all of them were though. I was there for the release. I was instructed to update the device myself.
