I don't know what's up with me, I've done this and I'm still coming up with the kb issue. ??? Replaced the files with crackutil, rebooted each time and still have issue. I've missed something.

It was first thought you need to overwrite both cods. Only one is needed.

If your both able to use Crackutil, confirm that you have the .109 version of the cod.
1. Plug in your phone and open crackutil.
2. Navigate to FILE MANIPULATION - INTERMEDIATE
3. Click on Retrieve File Listing
4. Scroll down to net_rim_bb_virtual_keyboard.cod
5. Verify that version is 4.7.0.109
If its not, then you havn't copied the cod over correctly
Hope this helps

No more messing with CrackUtil. BTW I originally did switch out my cod files for the ones from .109. I just switched them back after finding the original ones for the .114 OS leak in "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9530-v4.7.0.114_P4.0.0.143\Java" <-- This only applies if you use Windows XP. I'm sure someone can point the way for a Vista user.
wow,all the file transfering, and this was the issue...that's funny

2. Delete net_rim_bb_virtual_keyboard.cod.
3. Open apploader. C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\Loader
4. Run loader. (not sure, might ask to downgrade. Click yes.
5. Phone should load .114 and reboot with errors. Don't worry it's fixable.
6. Now go back to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9530-v4.7.0.114\Java.
7. Copy and paste in the .109 net_rim_bb_virtual_keyboard.cod.
8. Go back to Apploader C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\Loader
9. Run loader again.
10. You should now have your keyboard fixed.
Thanks everyone for the info. I ran through the steps that ShanePark2 posted and it worked great.

Thank you again for the help

Just need to replace net_rim_bb_virtual_keyboard.

Working fine
I had to replace both files for it to work. (BTW: Used CrackUtil).

I got an exception when starting a call with only the one file replaced.

im assuming that everyone knows that you can just options/screen-keyboard/portrait view keyboard and switch to multitap. that fixes the number pad issue without having to hybrid the OS. i know the more advanced users know this but i thought it would be a easier fix for newbies.

it's a simpler fix then searching for *.cod files and using CrackUtil, however if you are anal and want the proper keypad to come up when you press the little keypad button, i would go with switching the cod file. this is the lazy man's trick!

But will this have to be re-done every time you boot?

Yes that is another fix, however, if you like using a full keyboard or sure type for typing emails and txt msgs, then you would have to go back and switch things around, and vice versa to get a keypad. just hit the 'Add Participant' button while in a call and it'll bring up the dialing pad.
