    Default OS Crashes after 4.7.0.151

Here is a weird little problem I am having. On every leak or real release all the way up to the 4.7.0.151 OS my Blackberry works flawlessly. Starting at 167 and up (all the way to 5.0.0.230) my Blackberry constantly crashes after I connect it to BES. Here is the rundown:

This OS actually activates however in 167 every 10th or so time I put in my password to unlock my Blackberry the device resets. Other than that the device works fine

For any version of 5.0 before I connect it to my BES server I can do anything, take calls, browse the net, send SMS and MMS for extended periods of time. I kept it off BES for the entire weekend and it never crashed. I have never been able to successfully activate the device on 5.0. I have gotten as far as 99% (it was initializing the address book) and the boom, repeated reboots until I blank the entire device.

I followed the instructions correctly, I even went as far as to wipe the device and make unusable from the BES 5.0 screen.

Any suggestions. I am a computer guy, so I would love to get access to some usable logs. Does that Blackberry contain something like this? I am assuming it is something in the IT policy, but I am not sure. Thanks in advance for any help.

Update, I do not have any custom themes. I do not use any custom apps. I even went as far as to load the OS without restoring a backup of my device (only the info that came from BES). One suggestion I got via PM was to delete my user in BES and add it fresh. I did that and it still did not work. I may try deleting my BES user, than scraping my Blackberry again, and building up. Any other suggestions would be great. Thank you.

there have been allot of posts about this. It seems that because you are on BES there are issues. Not sure how to fix them but Im sure once OS 5.0 goes official you will not have the same problems.

I think i am having the exact same problem. My BB storm (167) is also set up by the IT of my company and hence is also on BES. It resets after certain number of times of password-unlocking. Can someone point me to other posts that talk about this problem?? I would really like to get it resolved. Thanks!!

Okay, here is how I fixed my issue:

I completely wiped my Blackberry while attached to the BES server. I used the Delete all device data and disable device option.

Next I deleted my user account from BES. I used the Delete the user and remove the BlackBerry information from the user's mail system option.

Next I created a new IT policy for my phone only. Similar to the default policy, but I added basic security to it. Passwords etc. I made sure encryption was set to OFF.

Using the app loader I blasted the 5.0.0.230 firmware.

I immediately went to enterprise activation and began the process. For the first time in the 5.x I was able to finish activation. So far about an hour of use with no crashes.

To recap, one of two things fixed my phone. Deleting my user account from BES and then readding it, or making sure encryption was turned to off from the start. Good luck to anyone else.

Thanks but this solution won't work for me if the IT of my company controls the BES server right?

It is the encryption/content protection setting. If you can turn it off, reboots will stop. Unfortunately, my company's IT policy will not let me disable the protection.
