My .328 Odyssey
Long story but here goes.........Was running an relatively older OS on my Storm and all was fine, until I dropped it. I cracked the screen badly and called Verizon's insurance company for replacement. I received a new Phone with the .328 operating system and plugged it in to my laptop running Windows 7 64bit. I would get a quick white screen followed by and endless reboot cycle. Weeks previous this same thing happened to a friend of mine, Asurion replaced his with a brand new (not refurb) phone that does the same reboot cycle. My story continues the same way with Asurion sending me a brand new Storm. Same issue. My buddy got his to connect to an older XP computer, loaded a leaked OS and was off and running. I decided to call Verizon and make them accountable. I spent two hours on the phone with them and the Blackberry support they eventually sent me to. I have now in my mind concluded the fault is with OS .328 My original phone worked on W7 and my wife's which is running .230 works but any phone with .328 will not, including my daughters. So far I couldn't get Vzw or BB to concede. Leaving details out for the sake of brevity, I will say I went through 4 storm 1's in 6 days. All with .328 all going into an endless reboot when connected to the computer. I had VZW calling me, BB calling me, all to ask if the phone was working. FINALLY I got Verizon to send me a Storm 2 and all is well. The S2 works fine, syncs with my DM and really is a nice phone. I like the improvements. After literally 6 or so total collective hours on the phone with vzw and/or BB tech support things are running again but never with a S1 using version .328 It has a problem and all techs claimed to be unaware. I find that hard to believe however I will say they all took a great interest in me. Honestly, the BB support team called me back several times to see where I was in this problem. A Sr. support rep even gave me his direct contact info in case I run into problems with the S2 I'm thinking they are losing many customers to Droid and are making a great effort to try to keep existing BB customers happy. My problem sucked and took a while to resolve (over a week) but I will say both Vzw and BB put great effort into solving the issue.
