| | Music Plays On Its Own
I am posting this in here, because I am running the Beta .85 OS Release however I have had this happen in previous releases.
The last thing I was listening will start playing, randomly, when entering and exiting the holster. I have tried become more aware if I am hitting any buttons inadvertently, but the phone should be locked when coming out of the holster, how could pressing buttons start the music to play.
There needs to be better control of this... This even was really the last straw, phone starts playing some music when placed into the holster at an F'n Funeral, it was not pretty.
Anyone else have this problem ?

You can always downgrade to the Official .75.

Sooks hit it.
When you're done with any media, hit the menu key, one of the open apps is "now playing". You have to close that when you're done, just exiting media doesn't close now playing.
This feature gives me hope for standby in the not too distant future.

You are all close, but wrong. I have been having the same problem. What is happening is, when you are removing the phone from the holster, you are hitting the top mute button. This will play/stop whatever you have loaded in the media player, regardless of what screen you are on. Must be a new feature, or bug, but I learned the hard way while in the mall last week. (started playing (full volume) a porn clip from the Howard Stern show recording I was listening too)

Confirmed. I ran into this while in the bathroom at work the other day. Naturally someone was in the stall next to me. I was listening to Dropkick Murphy's with my BT headset at my desk, so I paused the music to go the bathroom.
Dropped the phone back into the holster, and the song starts blasting in the bathroom. Guy next to me you can hear him get out his phone and make sure the volume is turned down.

I have music in the player, stopped it...went to other screens (not the media player screen) intentionally hit the mute button repeatedly and it didn't fire up the song. Did the same thing with a video...same result. Nothing happened.

I haven't tried to recreate it yet, but to me, it seemed like it was the volume/track buttons which changed functionality with the .85 update that triggered the playback to start. It doesn't go into holster mode until the phone is almost all the way at the base of the holster (in the VZW/RIM belt holster).

OK, so reading all of this, shows me that I need BlackBerry to add a functionality in their media player so it remembers where I stopped the track so I can go back to the place I stopped it.
Right now, I have some large recordings of Talk Radio on the phone, so I had just been hitting PAUSE and doing things, then randomly the phone starts playing.
This is so ridiculous, if I AM NOT in the MEDIA/MUSIC Player, it shouldn't START PLAYING music, just because a key is pressed, thats a little insane...

Removing or placeing the phone in holster, some how, sometimes, triggers music to play.
It's really weird.

I have had music suddenly start playing while in the holster after being holstered continuously for over an hour. I believe that was on .75 official OS.

It's really weird. | It is not related to the holster, as I have had this happen to me and I don't own one. It is related to the mute button. The sad thing is, that this seems to happen even if the phone is locked, as I have noticed a movie playing (big lebowski) in my pocket, and as I take the storm out to stop it, the phone is frozen on the lock screen, so I have to do a battery pull to kill it. I've had this on .75 and .83. I just did it now on my desk. I can't pause it without unlocking the phone or pressing mute again.
Personally I can see how this is intentionally done, for ease of use while the screen is locked, HOWEVER, it needs to be context sensitive. If you aren't on the "now playing" screen, it shouldn't work that way because obviously this can be an issue.

Just "Close" the Media Player when you're done with it. It's not hard to do and if you get in the habit of doing this with programs, you won't be constantly running out of aviable app memory due to too many programs running in the background.

Often I have short breaks during the day where I can listen to some music or part of a podcast, then have to stop for a while to do some actual work. I shoudln't have to be worried that my blackberry will suddenly start playing music through the speakers while I'm in the middle of an important meeting.
Also, when you "close" the media player, it just closes the page you are on. You have go to hit close several times. It should have a "Quit Media Player" option that actually shuts down the application instead of just going back to the previous screen in the library.
