Default how to upgrade to os 5.0 with unlocked phone
i plug it in to my computer and run to see if there are updates and there are but it said i need a current blackberry service and it wont let me update.
any ideas?

Load up the OS exe on your PC and update it via DM and then you shouldn't have to worry about that prompt. Read on this board on how to do that if you don't know.

+1 Civic is right, all the info on doing operating system upgrades are available on this site, just search it and do plenty of reading before you try it

... however, your profile says 8110 pearl? that phone never got the 5.0 OS upgrade.
