how to update to BB 5 without BIS

So I downgraded my storm to fix some issues and I am unable to upgrade back because I dont have BIS I am assuming. Im very sad cuz 4.6 is just awful. Is there anything I can do to get it back up to 5.

If you still have the OS 5 exe file, just reinstall it on your PC and run the AppLoader. If you deleted the exe file, or upgraded OTA and never had it, then I don't know a solution. Even if you upgrade OTA, it's a good idea to always download the exe file for situations like this.

well i googled it and found a download link. I will see where this goes. I dont understand why it wouldnt work

I'm sorry, I mistakenly concluded from your original post that you did not have internet access. If you can download the OS to your PC, that's all you need. You don't need BIS on your BlackBerry to upgrade using a PC>

So i keep getting the screen saying I need a blackberry subscription. If you dont mind can you walk me through what you mean when you say i can install BB 5 from my pc. I have an internet connection on my phone and computer.

i know how to install, but it says i need a blackberry subscription in red at the very end of the instructions.

Can you be more specific about where and when you're getting this message? I update BBs without any service all the time

To use it after installing. You can install OS5 on your storm but email, browsing, messaging - you need BIS for that.

Take a screenshot and post it here, you should be able to install with no problems. Using is a different matter.

Ive been trying ALL DAY trying to get my storm back to BB 5 and im about to use crack util to wipe out the IT policy. I tried putting tmo's service books with no prevail.

Just some info:
I have a 9530 from verizon that i got preowned from ebay.
Im using simplemobile which is a gsm company using tmo's towers
I dont have BIS but I do have data and everything was working.
I downgraded because I kept having memory leak issues

ANY HELP is definately appreciated

This seemed to do the trick. waiting for it to initialize right now. I must of overlooked it while in freak out mode. Anyway thanks yall for helping me out.

Almost all issues can be resolved. Sometimes it takes a few different people responding to find the correct solution.
