Default How high will we see 5.0.0.xxx go before we see 5.1?

I am starting to wonder how high we will see 5.0 builds go. Will we see 48x, or even 5xx builds? Also there are many carriers that have dropped an official on 9530 so will there be a .49x official in the next weeks.

I know Civic says it's done, but there have been several 5.0 leaks since then. So how high do you think it will go?

The numbers can go as high as .999, but probably won't go that far. Remember, the subvarients are sequential numbers, not sub-subvarients.

    what about 5.0.1.xxx?
    Why 2 sets of zeros?
Plus will 5.1 be completely revolutionary? Shouldn't it then be 6.xxx anywayz?

Ive said in other threads, were more than likely done with builds for S1. As far as stuff thats complete and just not released? Look at the last 4.7 builds that we never saw. Same deal.

I don't know about the S1, but I have the S2, and I really hope we're done with 5.0.0, I really want to see what these widgets are all about in 5.1. I think it'll be an interesting concept. It'll require a completely redone home screen approach and I"m very excited. Let's see

Regardless, I saw in the threads that we won't see 5.0.0.5xx, because they're focusing their programmers and engineers on 5.1. I don't mind waiting for it, but I would like to know more about it! Screen shots even . I'm a fairly impatient man, but I don't mind waiting for it to come out, but like i've just said... screen shots, or information at least!

IF they are working on that at the moment, then before we know it it will be here.
I suspect a leak toward end of Feb or middle mar at the latest.
(although 5 was pushed for S2 so we can't really judge lol)

I did notice one of the "hands on" said the S3 was on 5.1.100.xx which I thought was interesting. But it may be because they were working on 5.1.0.xxx before and stopped. So maybe 5.1.100.xx delineates some difference. Or maybe it was a typo and the s3 was really running 5.1.0.100.

I think we will see at least 1 more leak for 9530 but I am thinking it will be below .5xx. And I agree that if they have 5.1 running smoothly on an S3 then we should see a leak of that before April, but I am assuming only for S2. Who knows? Since 5.1 is same core then maybe it will run nice on s1, just maybe without some bells and whistles.

Dont get your hopes up for another 9530 leak. In no way shape or form will the radio file for S3 work on S1. Im sure there will be hybrids made incorporating some S3 java files but whats the point without the SFI? Its a dead issue with the S1 dude, get over it already.

I agree with Stormtrooper and the others saying S1 software upgrades are over. Why spend the man power upgrading old S1 software when they are supposedly working on an S3?

If we see anything it will be a leaked OS but I think we are done seeing anything official from RIM.

Please don't misunderstand what I am getting at here. I never said S3 OS would run on S1. Nor am I saying that RIM is developing for 5.0 and 9530 actively at this point. What I am wondering is how high they went in OS 5, and if we will see some leaks from Carriers who have yet to release a 5.0 for the 9530. We all know Development Stopped on 4.7 at .220 months before .151, and .167 and most recently .182 leaked. So the OS super page says the highest known build for 9530 is 5.0.0.471. So is that out there? Will we see it? Or will it be like 4.7.0.220 and never drop?

Also since 5.1 is built on same core as 5.0, it is not unreasonable to think you could run it on 9530, if there is a release for it. It is very possible RIM just considered 256 mb the minimum required Memory for 5.1 and that's that.

So I am just wondering aloud what we'll see. That's all.

If this is True, then we are all clueless. Something seems odd about this, but one can hope.

I didnt mis-understand you. Your reaching for nothing. S1 is dead, let it go.I dont care what core 5.1 or whatever else OS might be coming is, IT WILL NOT WORK WITH S1. The radio will not be compatible with S1, end of story. As far as the thread you posted, well i have friends who have friends who have friends and so on. If it didnt come from a carrier or RIM directly then more than likely its just random talk, nothing more. Stop expecting S1 to suddenly sprout wings and start flying around the room , its not going to happen.

These added fatures do sound cool.

Call me a pessimist but I don't see VZW relaesing any more OS upgrades for the S1. I'll give it a try if it comes out as a leak though.

You completely misunderstand. Go back and re read this thread before you start in with the caps lock.

You are assuming that 5.1 won't be developed for 9530. While I totally agree with you, all I am saying is that since 9530 can run 5.0, it is possible that it could run 5.1, if RIM developed a 5.1 release for the 9530. So why the **** you keep saying the radio won't work is beyond me. Yes the Radio for 5.1 built for S3 or S2 won't. All I am saying is that it could be released for 9530, since it is the same core as 5.0. Yes, it is totally unlikely and I would be shocked if they even bothered.

And as far as further 5.0 leaks, you and I both know that there are builds out there from RIM that we have not seen and several carriers who have not dropped a 5.0 or any update on a 9530 in a while. So something will leak eventually. I do think RIM is done, but there is a delay before we no longer see anything.

As far as wings go, I am happy with my Storm. Was just wondering how high the #'s would go. I was not asking for leaks or add'l functionality.

Seriously, go back and read this thread. I never said half the things you are barking back at me about, so just chill.

Because RIM has already stated that development for S1 is over. Why dont you get that? Theyve moved on. They are not going to release a 5.1 for the S1. Why doesnt that sink in with you? You keep repeating over and over the same thing and wont take into account that none of it will happen. ITS A DEAD ISSUE. RIM has accepted that the memory capabilities of the S1 and S2 will not meet the standards they are moving into. Does that not register or what dude? Whatever, you wanna keep thinking that they still care about S1 then go ahead.

You are assuming that 5.1 won't be developed for 9530. While I totally agree with you, all I am saying is that since 9530 can run 5.0, it is possible that it could run 5.1,[I] if RIM developed a 5.1 release for the 9530.

You just typed that i didnt^^^^^^^. Listen carefully ok ...............RIM IS NOT ,WILL NOT RELEASE A 5.1 FOR THE S1. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. They have moved on. Please stop confusing yourself into believing otherwise.

No matter how much development, new numbers for the version...nothing will help. Rim needs to go back to the drawing board. Step 1 includes separating the OS into consumer and business, with a custom version for touch phones. Then go ahead and develop from there.

Quit worrying about flash and GUI and that crap. Get the browser fixed and you're on the right track.

Dude i dont blame ya. I posted on another thread that i want off my storm but money is tight right now and my major concern is just getting rid of my $150 a month bill.
My plan - Keep the storm for now(eww i know), get out of my verizon contract( i know its $175 but thats ok compared to $150 a month)unlock it and get on a non data tmobile plan for dirt cheap. I know the service isnt as good but so what im not the super user alot are. $1600+ a year for cell service is nuts for the type of user i am. Enough is enough already.
