Full 5.0.0.230 Findings & Fixes

is there anyway i can get my alerts changed. in .148 emails were golden enveloped and bbms were like that little blue thing. and text alerts were yellow envelopes. in .230 the alerts look weird lol. anyway to change that?

I need some other people to try this and see if it works for them as well. I have the storm with the leather holster. Lately whenever my phone freezes... instead of a battery pull i just holster it. The magnet triggers the bberry to sleep mode or whatever mode... which im sure we all know. But when I pull it out of the holster I just unlock it and its fine. Honestly, I haven't had a battery pull this week.

Can you guys see if this works for you as well? Just curious about this... Sure does save time and frustration.

Nope, doesnt work for me with WB. I am also having the issue of muted alerts now.

Is there any hope for 230 on my phone? I get frequent rebooting (every few minutes). I have turned off encryption. I have reloaded the OS and still have the same symptoms. Thanks

Can you explain what Freeze you are getting? .230 has never frozen my phone as I see it where it just has the spinning clock. I do get the "Black Screen of Death" where if the phone is in my Seido Clip Holster and it goes to sleep, the screen won't come back on when you take it out of the holster. It is back lit, and I could accept a call using the Hard keys, but the screen is 100% black. If I re holster it and then take it out again, it wakes up. Like for some reason it does not recognize the initial de holster after going to sleep. So if that is your Freeze, then yes that happens to me.

• Which Version of .230 do you have? Lots of .191, very little .191, or full .230?
• How did you install .230? Did you Wipe it? Did you Restore Back ups in full or partial? Did you Shrink it?
• Are you on BES or BIS?

There is just a lot you need to tell folks on here if anyone can help you. If you did not, I would recommend a full back up, then wipe with BBSAK, Install the full .230, then only restore the specific databases you need from the back up. Since you are having issues, I would stay away from 3rd party apps until you are sure it is stable.

If that was you initial approach, then I don't have much to offer accept maybe to try it again.

I wiped the 9530 with JL Cmdr. I did not restore a backup and have not added any applications yet. There was no shrinking. I am a BES user. I have upgraded OS probably 10 times and never had a problem before.

Ok. So it prolly is the BES. You said Encryption was off on your device, so maybe see if BES does anything with that. I am on BES 5 and have had no issues with OS 5 at .140 or .191. or .230 but I know a lot of folks said .230 did not play well with their BES.

well last night i had enable the encryption on my storm with os 5 and after setting the setting to strongest and setting up the password everything was fine. well when the unit lock and i try to unlock it it tells me the password is not right and i know that the password i setup and the one i type in was the same thing!
i notices when setting the password it told me to touch the screen to setup the 256bit encyption! i thought that was normal

after about 10 retrys i gota reload os now

anyone else have this problem i mean i know i enter the password right but it didn;t work and said it was wrong!!

I decided to take the plunge and try the upgrade to .230 on my Tour, but right now my phone is stuck on the Verizon screen, and it's been there for a good 45 minutes. DM is still waiting to connect to the device.

Do I just keep waiting? Did something go wrong? What should I do here?

Using zen remix - calendar - using agenda view, home screen does not want to get rid of past calendar entries (using custom wallpaper).

Help needed... i cant restore tasks, memos, nor documents to go apps ..

when i click on the advanced tab in the backup/restore section, the apps are there but cant be highlighted. any help would be much appreciated

Also, there is an exclamation mark and next to it it says " databases tha are unavailable in the lists have been configured for wireless synchronization or wireless backup and are read-only. you can restore or clear them." but im not sure if thats related to my problem or if its there are a general caution
