No sense speculating on things that are not yet available to the general public. Ya could spend all day saying what you *think* might happen with it, but you'll not know until it's released. I think the common consensus to the question you asked is going to be a resounding "I hope it improves", I'm sure every storm owner could/would agree on that statement.
Aside from that, you're gonna be hard pressed to get anyone who has knowledge of any higher OS' to directly tell you what to *expect* from it you're lucky enough to have anyone even acknowledge any existence of anything higher let alone specific details.
As time gets closer to general availability more information generally comes forth, until then..enjoy your .85 and worry about the next OS when u begin to hear more about it's existence.Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

well there must be some info about it out there if a few people CX one of them have further updates than .85
- 12-27-2008, 11:59 PM #5
And you feel as though it's someone's obligation to bring forth that information to a general forum when they could be under some sort of NDA or potentially placing their jobs at risk for leaking company prop information all because you have a curious (which I can relate too) need to know?
Information will come in due time..as like any other OS that has ever been released, again..you're lucky to have someone acknowledge higher then .85..let alone specific details.
Besides, it isn't like the OS come with chnagelogs anyways, although..I wish they did lol!!Excuse me, I'm making perfect sense. You're just not keeping up.

Even though I like .85, I would hope this won't make it the the "Official OS Release." There's a few issues that need to be addressed before it hits the mainstream.
1 - The "Media Card Inserted" freeze that A LOT of people are talking about. (Personally I don't have the problem, but there's enough people that are complaining to know there's a problem).
2 - Bluetooth Headphones not working for movies!!! For someone like me, this needs to be addressed. I don't carry a set of wired headphones, and I like to watch vids on my phone to pass time. I need this feature back!!!
3 - Random times my phone will not go into "Standby" meaning the screen stays lit, and on the homescreen indefinantly until a battery pull. (This has happened twice now since I upgraded to .85, and happened once on .83) Huge battery drainer.
There's also a few other quirks with this build that I believe will keep it off the shelves for right now. I may be wrong, but I don't see this being the next "Official" release... - 12-28-2008, 01:21 AM #9
I think they should focus on making things bug-free and as stable as possible with the current build, THEN they can focus on putting in new features and whatnot for the next few firmware updates.
That's what most people want anyway - something reliable and not too sluggish.Current BB: BB 9860
Previous BBs: BB 9800, BB 9530, BB 8330, BB 8130, BB 7130, BB 7250 - 12-28-2008, 05:54 AM #10
I'm just encouraged by the amount of effort they are showing with all these new builds.
It shows that they are serious about the Storm being successful. - 12-28-2008, 08:45 PM #11
Agree, I haven't seen this much effort to fix bugs since Apple released the iphone.
I have a curve and was sitting on the fence about the Storm until I saw two updates [.75, and .83] hit the net within one month. This convinced me enough to invest in the storm, and I'm glad that I did.

i personally see all of these as minor tweak kind of updates im ready for a full blown update with new features. like the screen locking when your on a call or when you hover your finger over something it gets bigger like when you type on an iphone. stuff like that.

Seems to me people are losing sight of the fact that most of the updates are "leaked" and not official. Not to say that they would be better if they were official. They wouldn't. .85 is .85 whether its official or not, but if its not an offficial release there must be a reason. My guess is that RIM and/or VZW decided it wasn't good enough to release and they chose to shelf it and work on a newer, better version.
If you're downloading a leaked OS keep in mind that its just that, leaked. If it was an amazing new OS that fixed all the problems then it would be an official release..... - 12-29-2008, 11:42 AM #17
They've only released one update (.75) .76, .83 and .85 (so far) are all leaked versions, which means VZW didn't release them. The bad news is they aren't pumping out new versions of the OS with amazing features and all the bugs worked out. The good news is they're not just releasing any new OS build they come up with just to say they did. Seems like they are constantly working on it and hopefully they come out with a solid build soon enough.
