Do I Need To Downgrade OS Before Taking Phone in For Repairs?

I am VZW customer I am running a HYBRID and my headphone jack is not working phone is stuck on speaker phone. Do I need to downgrade my os before taking into the store?

I had this problem.. It could be a software issue.. Try a wipe and reload of the OS. May save you from going in at all

+1 on reloading the OS. 90% of the time, most problems associated with sound are OS related. Worth a shot. But definitely wipe to .75 when taking into VZW for service. Leaked OS's void any warranty related to the device.

As a tech for VZW, technically, we're not allowed to trouble shoot devices that are not on our official software. But most tech's that dont know anything about the storm, wont check that. And those that do, are probably addicts, so it really shouldnt be too much of a hassle. But technically, Yes, you must downgrade to .75. Hope this helps

Well unless you have had the phone for under 30 days there is no point in taking it to the store. They dont carry FRU(refurbished) pda phones in the store. They will have to mail it to you. Just call tech support and they will send you a new one. Cant do much for a messed up headphone jack. You will have to send yours back to them when you get the refurb...I would recommend putting back on .75 before sending it back.

I think it all depends on the rep you get help from, I went to the vzw store today and the rep was going through my phone because I have been having a sim card error and I told him I had already done all the sh*t he was telling me to do from looking at crackberry. He said "then you must know all about the OS leaks, did you downgrade to .75 before you came? (which I did)...put .113 on your phone". So I'm sure it all depends on who you talk to.

Avoid any reason for them to refuse to service/replace your unit. Play it safe and take it back down to .75.

Why take it in? Straighten out a paperclip and, gently, wiggle it around inside the jack. There is a switch in there that you need to hit. This will make it stop thinking there's a headset in there.
