Default Could take it no longer.

Well after almost 2 years I could take it no longer. Got me a Droid 2 Global. Thanks to all of you who helped at least make the horrendous handset that is the Storm usable.

Yep, RIM and by extension Crackberry, will not be seeing me again.

Bye

You did the right thing. My only criticism is that you took too long to do it!

Same here... Feels good to be out of contract but I really don't want to jump to Android or iPhone and not be able to make it a full day with my battery. Also don't want to lose my holster mode, or my multiple imap accounts, or my BBM groups... If only the UX didn't suck and it didn't leak memory like a sieve I'd actually like this phone.

Yea memory is what's killing it for me, having to sacrifice apps to get new ones, or not get new ones to keep my favorite old ones pain in the as*. Definitely sticking with a berry though, storm 9530 is just to far behind in hardware.

I had no idea my Storm 1 was so bad until I came here!
After loving the bullet proof emails and BBM for 2.9 yrs, I was thinking I'd like to keep it even after my contract is up.
I guess it depends on what you do with your phone that determines how happy you will be with it!

I'm assuming .8 of those years was with another device since the 9530 came out in November, 2008.

oops....off by a month or so. It was released here pretty early. We are about 15km away from RIM headquarters.. I have until March on my 3 yr contract.....I guess that's closer to 3.5 months, not 3.
The Storm1 was my first BB. I came from a TREO 650. Let me tell you what BAD really is! Although, I liked the PALM platform as an organiser but it was a terrible smartphone.

Still not sure how you come up with your dates. It wasn't available in Canada until after VZW in the US by about a month. (Dec 15 vs Nov 21)

And yes I know how bad the old Palm candybars were. I had a Treo 700P and a Treo 700W... My Storm is a lot better than those but it is still crippled by software.

I actually never paid much attention to the dates. My carrier says my contract is up end of march and it was a 3 yr one...I just took MA Bell's word for it.
