Typically the only guys that are on the BES that mess around with the beta OS's are the administrators.

Not true. I am on BES, not an admin, and have updated my storm, past blackberries and other people's bb. I have had good luck with some OS's, bad with others, and have found that .109 is very stable. I have bricked my BB and others, wiped, reloaded until it worked, etc. At the end of the day, I always got everything to work again.

I and a co-worker run our BES, she is on a Bold with Official OS, I let a Beta OS sit for a couple of days before I load it up on my Storm. Haven't bricked one yet, knock on wood.

All of my users that don't have official 4.5 OS's have been upgraded or at least the ones I deal with.

I'm the only one who has played around with the beta os's. I've kept my storm users in the dark about such things

If you have an IT dept that lets you get away with that. Most wont.

My storm is running .114 with 109 keyboard and 86 mms, no problems at all. But I keep all of my users in the dark about Beta OS's.

I'm on a BES, always upgrade to the latest leaks and no one seems to really care. I never bother them with my problem, but then again, I've always been able to fix them myself (although yesterday i thought .114 had a problem with enterprise activation but it turns out the exchange server was down).

Default Being the Administrator helps ...

Being the Administrator helps as I can play all I like.

The only downside is that my minions (who use 3 different types of handsets) all expect instant miracles when they screw something up!

If I had to call my help desk to reactivate after OS upgrades I would never use a leak. However, after I update my OS all I need to do is start DM and plug in my BB and it reactivates.

I have also heard (do not know if it is true) that I could get a new device and just plug it in with DM running and it would activate on BES and I would get my mail/calendar.

I'm on bes and not an admin. I have tried every leak. Just grade on a pc that is part of your domain and it will reactivate automatically.

BES admin here. I would be pissed if one of my users kept bugging me to reactivate if they messed around with the betas as much as I do.

I'm on BES and not an admin. My admin guys are cool as can be, they always see the leaks and ask if I've installed them yet (yes). Ask how they work etc.

I'm on a corp BES with my personal BB. I'm also an admin. Never had any problems. I do it at the house, VPN in and it activates over the wire when it finds my BES via the VPN connection.

Not an admin, but tried every leak. Sometimes being on the domain doesnt work and i need to call the admin for reactivation. This is their job. I have no problem asking those in support functions to function in their support role. Reactivation takes 15 seconds to set up. If i must call every day for such reactivation, so be it. this is their job...
If my blackberry worked well with released software, i wouldn't need to do this.. Since they took my 8830 away and gave me this email reader(9530), i will make it work the best way i can, and that is with beta software. Any admin worth his salt would not begrudge a user trying to make the best of a substandard product.

My admin doesn't mind as long as you don't bug him about it when he's sweating bullets and putting out a real fire. It also helps he's on CB half the day himself. I work remote and find myself far from home and have never had a problem with leaks. My admin is pretty gangster I must say

So my question is why you have to ask for re activation? I have done every leak and from my understanding BES activation is by PIN not OS. Every time I install a leak it has to run through the activation process but I don't have to ask the admin for anything. The only time I needed another BES activation code is when I received my replacement storms. The only difference is with the hybrids I had to hook into the DM that was connected to the messaging system and viola back in action.
