Also, when doing this upgrade, will all of your 3rd party apps be wiped or will the phone be the same after the upgrade as it was before. Still on .75 if you couldn't tell.
The purpose to delete the file is because it is a unique carrier identification file. It will not install right on your phone otherwise or may not install at all.

Before the upgrade starts you do have the option of selecting whether you want all your 3rd part apps wiped and reinstalled or not.

The best idea is before doing that open up your DM and do a complete backup to be safe.

Then close the DM and go back to the loader.exe and finish the update. It installs the update and puts your phone back together with same apps and layout and settings how you had it set. You might have to resend service books though if your email isn't working. Other than that its good.

This is my first upgrade from .75 so I am a little excited its about at 50% right now for me So far so good.

Any thoughts? I don't want to upgrade to a new OS without the backup file.
Clear all the cache in your browser setting and try again.

Yes, otherwise the firmware will not load on your phone.

That is correct. I'm finishing up the actual OS update as I post this and it was pretty darn fast compared to other updates. I'll post my thoughts on this OS as they come up.

Just make sure you back them up just in case they don't get saved. Better safe then sorry.

Okay, I'm a n00b...got my phone 3 months ago and haven't ever done an update. I see people talking about backing up your phone is case it becomes a BrickBerry...is there a thread that tells me how to do that? I've never even used the USB cord or plugged my BB into my laptop. I know I'll need to DL some software from the BB website...but then what?

it's pretty self explanatory, you have to download or load from CD the desktop manager. From there you can click the "backup" button and do a backup. When loading a new os it does a back up anyway but always better safe than sorry

Hello all.

I'm still running .75 and want to make the jump to .122. I've been hesitant as I've never had any problems.

I'm a mac user and use PocketMac SyncManager to work between my phone and my Mac.

I also have a PC desktop that I don't use quite as often. I've read that I need to use the PC to do any updates like this. Will I want to back up my OS on my Mac or the PC? What do I need on the PC to run this upgrade? It seems like I just need the downloaded files.

When I update the OS on the PC, can I just go right back to my Mac and plug it in and sync like normally?

I'm only a little nervous with this as I don't run any BB software right now on the PC, only on my mac and know that I need the PC to do updates.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do I have to downgrade from the 122 hybrid before I try to reload this 122?
