I like stable devices, so its a good thing. As for placebo updates, I'm interested in what's on the horizon , not interested in someone trying to treat me like a ****.
Also people, please don't worry, I'm very relaxed.

I'm currently running 4.7.0.76 and haven't installed .83 yet, although I have downloaded it. Unless a new version leaks soon I will try .83 and take the risk. I'm also shocked by the 9520 rumors - didn't the RIM CEO state that there wasn't enough space in the phone? Furthermore, the Storm was supposed to be exclusive to Verizon and Vodafone along with some others (Bell, Telus) like the iPhone is an AT&T exclusive.

Although it was weird that they claimed the same thing about the 9500, Vodafone must not have wanted it either. Wonder how many people will be ticked off that the 9520 is supposed to have wifi... I keep meaning to set my laptop up in a PAN, since in theory that should do a slightly slower version of wifi 1mbit v 5 or 20... Anyone else tried this?

To make the pain go away - could someone drop a link to .85?

Even though the 9500 and 9530 do not have wifi they both DO have GPS. nowhere does it say that the 9520 has GPS... sounds like a trade off...
Most people think going from a Storm to a Curve is a downgrade... but in reality going from a Storm to anything is an UPGRADE!!! - 12-25-2008, 09:52 PM #22

no wifi on the Storm IS a SPACE ISSUE!
You're full of ****. It WAS a space issue. Quote:
"Lazaridis also defended the decision to release the BlackBerry Storm without Wi-Fi, limiting users to a 3G connection. “We tried,” he said. “When you’re engineering something, you try to get as much as you can into the product, and we just couldn’t [add Wi-Fi].”
He said that the decision came down to a question of space. “We have 3D tools that allow us to pack every available millimetre. There’s no room left. The speaker is here, the antenna radiation field is there, then you have the camera, the flash, the microphone, the head set, there’s just no room left in there,” he said."

So I was right - it's an issue of space. Thus, I think that any Storm 9520, if it ever turns out to exist (which I think is highly dubious) will either be larger or have less features to accommodate the wifi chip. - 12-25-2008, 11:01 PM #25
