Default 9530 5.0.0.419 Solution to black lines in SMS and keyboard lag

Unlike most folks who had .328 installed... I did not get the black lines in the SMS problem UNTIL I had installed .419 and the same goes for the keyboard lag. This had been bothering me for quite some time (about a week)... anyway I think I might have stumbled onto a solution. While I was tracking a memory leak, which I isolated to the 3rd party App "quickpull", I decided to delete this App because it was causing me significantly more leakage in .419 than .328 (I had the latest beta version installed). The leakage issue is much better now but since I have been doing real battery pulls every day just for maintenance... my last real pull (last night) settled my phone in for good and both problems (the black lines in SMS and the keyboard lag) have been fixed finally and now my .419 is running glitch free just like my .328 did
In short, I think if you do enough real battery pulls, it will fix these problems for you also.
FYI I probably did at least 10 real pulls since the install.

freak...i hate battery pulls. quickpull kinda sucks since we got 5.0. I would recommend the "reboot device" on Quicklaunch. Works well...

I actually prefer the reset device option on Meterberry more. Seems to get to it faster than QL does.
... and no, I'm not nice!

The storm has a built in reset. You do not need any 3rd party software to do a reset.
    Press send(green phone button)
    Dial: ##000000 Hit send(green button)
    Scroll down to SIP Password.
    Type: vzw
Hit BBmenu button and click save. Reset accomplished.

Nothing replaces actually taking the battery out of the phone but this is a great option to use.

I also like Meterberry and have it set up to reset the phone at 3:00 am every night.

I thought you just had to go to options>SMS Text and change the conversation style from Bubbles to Stripes to get rid of the black lines

I believe he's suggesting a fix for the lines while still having the Bubbles setting. Doesn't work for me. I'd rather have the bubbles too.

I can't even tell the difference between bubbles and stripes....

I heard the difference is slightly rounded corners but I never bothered to look closely enough to actually see the difference.....

There is really only a very small difference between that is basically unnoticeable... perhaps the next update should make a greater distinction

that's not a "built in" reset... that's changing something in the programming menu, which makes the phone have to reset in order to recognize.

Harm? Naw... Just affects data if you're traveling outside the US. Which is probably why people on here throw it around so haphazardly.

The real questions is why did RIM make a device that you have to pull the battery out of to reset it? Why not force a reset by holding the RED hangup down for 60 seconds or something? Or just have a built in app for it? It is not like no one ever has to do a battery pull.

Especially on a Storm I with such limited memmory.

I have the line issue on .419 too and it is not just in SMS but also in any white pull down for other themes or on the Web pages that have lots of pictures and white space. I did not seem to have it in the earlier verizon based v5 OS.

You make a valid point. The storm is old tech though. The S2 you don't have to from what I've read in forums. Having said I still think it is a good phone. For what I need anyway

Its not a added on app. Its built in. So what if it isnt a actual reset feature, it works and doesnt require any 3rd party software to do so. Thats about as built in as built in gets.
