Default 9500 OS installation problems ..

How do, I'm new to the forums and haven't had my Blackberry long (Its my first).

I tried to install the latest OS just now using the 101 guide and I appear to have failed ... miserably.

My desktop manager just wouldn't find the update, I installed to my PC, restarted, searched for application updates and it didn't find it.

Any idea where I went wrong?

Apologies, I'm new to this.

There is an entire OS section that will have plenty of answers. What version did you try and install?

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.7.0.203 (Multilanguage)

(Yeah I'm so **** I had to copy and paste that lol)

I probably shouldn't have even tried since I know so little, I just had a couple of minor problems recently and thought this may fix it.

Do you have a 9500 or a 9530. Make sure you have the proper OS downloaded to your computer. If you are trying to load 9530 OS on a 9500 it will not work and if you try to load 9500 OS on a 9530 it will not work.

You indicated that you were trying to install V4.7.0.203 I suspect that is the Release number and the version is 4.7.0.148, which is the number most people will reference.

I understand you are reluctant to answer my question as its probably be answered multiple times before and I ' should be using search ' but I did do a search and didn't find an answer relevant to my question.

Also remember search would be useless if these questions weren't asked and answered in the first place.

Any ideas?

Think I found the problem but have no idea how to fix it, my desktop manager won't find anything I download whatsoever.

When I click browse and find the app/software I want to install and click it, my desktop manager starts doing a scan for applications and tells me " No additional applications designed for your device were found ".

Really starting to **** me off now, on another level

Reboot your phone and reboot your computer and try again. If that does not work, try deleting the vendor file.

Next, try installing using AppLoader, but be sure DM is closed:

Program files/common Files/Research in Motion/AppLoader

Then double click on Loader.exe

Be sure to do a backup of your data and third party apps before attempting any of the above

After downloading, did you install it on your computer? Double click on the downloaded file?

You can check by going here: Program Files/Common Files/Research in Motion/Shared/Loader Files and then see if there is a folder for the 148 OS.

Bolt, should be downloaded directly to the phone and it will install itself.
