Default VVM Asking for Permissions Change Too Often

Every time I do a battery pull on my Storm and every time I load visual voice mail, I get "vvmail_9530 is requesting changes to its application control permissions." I set all to allow and save them every time, but it just keeps coming up. Better yet, it won't even download or alert me of new messages unless I manually load VVM, set permissions again, and then manually check for new messages. I'm currently running OS 5.0.0328 and VVM version is 1.19.16, which appears to be the latest version. Any suggestions?

Just to preemptively throw it out there: this isn't the same issue as any other permission and VVM related threads I could find while searching. The others appeared to be related to the BB enforcing an IT policy that didn't exist.

I started having the same problem back in December. Update to OS .419 did not fix the problem. Same version of VVM as you. Deleted and reinstalled the app. Now it doesn't ask for the permissions anymore but I still get no push for new messages. I have to check them manually whenever I have missed calls. Ridiculous, looks like Verizon needs to update this since it didn't work with their own "official" software release. *228 option 1 succeeded but did not fix the problem. Neither did resending Service Books.

cgallagher84 solved the problem in another thread.

Delete VVM from Storm and do a battery pull.
Go to this link http://stormota.com/download.php?appID=136 from BB browser. This downloads/installs older version of VVM 1.19.2
Launch VVM and accept the Agreement and put in your PIN.
Voicemails will start coming automatically again.
Then Update to VVM 1.19.16

Worked like a champ!!!

Thanks cadzilla74, I think that took care of it.

How'd you find cgallagher84's solution? I tried to search and went through a few pages of seemingly irrelevant results. Is there an optimal way to phrase searches or just trial and error?

I searched for "visual voice mail" (no quotes) but chose "show posts" instead of "show threads". Otherwise things get buried in threads with 1,000 replies and you'll never find the key word you're looking for. Also, restricted Search to just BB Storm 8530/9500 and below instead of All Categories.

Glad you got it running.
