Is it worth $18
rocking the 230. - 05-06-2009, 11:07 AM #3
I'm still kind of confused what the difference between 2.0 and 3.0 premium. I can do all of that already. I seems that the basic 3.0 version just limits the features already available in 2.0.

are you kidding me? they want money for the things I can already do with 2.1? Don't get confused, 2.1 works perfectly fine with the storm. I've been using it everyday since december.
I'll stick with 2.1 and enjoy everything I can do in the 3.0 premium with out having them rob me, what a disappointment.Last edited by OneOfaKindDPC; 05-06-2009 at 11:49 AM.

I keep having problems with my phone's permissions....it won't allow me to give vlingo access to the internet by default, my only options are "deny" and "prompt"....so during the setup process where it ask me to say "search concert tickets", it fails because I get prompted to give the application access to the internet and the "always allow" option fails. Any ideas?

Please read the Vlingo blog that I posted the link for. It answers freqently asked questions in the comments for the blog, and also gives you the email address that you can send your request to downgrade to.
That is why I posted the link for the blog, too... so people could read up on it first.Official Schmoopie of CB

VLingo's voice recognition is, in my opinion, poor at best. By the time you are done correcting what it recognizes incorrectly, it's faster to just type it out.
Frankly I'd prefer (and pay for) a program that reads aloud received text message and emails. - 05-06-2009, 04:29 PM #16

The 2.0 version crashed my storm. When I tried to use it. I tried to reinstall it several different times, played with the settings.. and the results were the same. It crashed... the new version works very well on my store and as yet not crash. My storm.. I have a voice recognition program on my laptop and the accuracy is sitting around 93% you do have to pay attention. Sometimes wrong words to come up, and they are those Floyding moment too.... the software on the phone isn't quite as good. But nevertheless, you do have to pay attention. Or you may have some embarrassing moments later

the $18 is a nonissue. At least for me and I have big hands and the touchscreen keypad sometimes requires me to stop what I'm doing and pay close attention to what I'm typing. So I don't make mistake between the two same amount of time to type. Or do the voice recognition... this phone is just a big toy to me. So I don't take it seriously. I think the upside of this particular piece of software is that there's no one typing what you say.. at another location so there's a certain degree of privacy.. as to what you say... and yes they do collect information. But you decline if you wish..

Any try out the Bt support?
$20 would be worth it (for me) to add BT, if it "works"....and NO we don't need an APP for that! - 05-06-2009, 09:52 PM #19
Anyone who's downloaded the 3.0, whats the size of the app?

more overpriced 3rd party blackberry app bull****
no surprise - 05-07-2009, 11:13 PM #23
3.0 works better for me than any previous version. Though $18 may be a little much ($10 would be fair), this is an extremely useful program and worth it IMO. If moving away from a free app allows them to invest more time and improve the app even more, then I'm okay with that. Vlingo has come a long way and has even more potential.

Version 2.0 was unusable for me. I loved the idea so I tried out the basic version. I ended up purchasing it through handango. However, it said if I did not have an existing account with them one would be created with my purchase. WELL nothing ever happened. I put my information in and the program became activated. This is fine and dandy but then I upgraded my OS and have no way of activating the product.
I'm pretty PO'd and the customer service has not been all that great.
