+1 for Google Voice...but according to Youmail comment in OP, I don't think Funny is looking for alternative VVM apps, but rather asking for advice on correcting the speakerphone issue w/ VZW's VVM.
Again, I second the Google Voice idea, just wanted to clarify early on before thread becomes cluttered with alt VVM app suggestions, product reviews and/or debates, and a million other posts that are so far off topic the thread becomes useless n the original issue unresolved. Not talking sh*t, just my $0.02.
