I havent but would be real interested if it worked. The storm is not listed as supported devices.

I installed it this morning, but it won't run, at least not on my Storm. I get this message:

"Beta time expired at 2009-03-28. You should have received a new version by email already."

So, maybe they need to update the download...

According to their website, it's not available for the Storm. I've e-mail them to see if it will be coming out for the 9530. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

I sent an e-mail this morning and this is what they replied.

Quote:
Thank you for your interest in our program.

Although we have not tested the application thoroughly with the Storm, it should nevertheless work with it. Feel free to download the application with the free map pack to try it.

Got the same message after I installed it.

After going to their website (TopoExplorer for BlackBerry) and signing up at the bottom, I received a couple of e-mails and a link to the latest version of the application. It installed without a problem and I was able to download the map, transfer it to my SD card and then load it.

What still has me puzzled is that it never appears to acquire my GPS coordinates since it just sits at 0 degrees latitude/longitude. I don't mind looking at the west coast of Africa, but it doesn't do me a lot of good here in the US.

I really want this app! For the work I do this would be HUGE! To say the least.

Does it allow me to bring in waypoints?

I got an email today that said due to a bug in the last version you probably got a message that told you the beta version had expired. This issue has been fixed. Anyone else get this or gotten it to work yet?

I think look cool is all its ever gonna do unless you buy the map packs which they sell by state. Otherwise why would they sell them?

Got it to install. Installed the free map pack. After you load the map, you are able to see a satellite view of the world map and shows the long and lat at the top of the screen. The maps starts on 0° South by 0° West.

However, that's where the fun dies because after you load the map, you cant do anything. You can't move the map or the focus point. Touching, clicking, and sliding have no effect on the map. The only thing you can do is hit the bb button which gives you the simple option: About, Map Manager, Settings (which consist of only being able to change how the coordinates are displayed), Get maps (which directs you to their site to buy other map packs), Load Maps, Show Keyboard, Switch apps, Close.

Guess it hasn't been tailored to the Storm yet. Looked pretty damn cool though.

They give you the free satellite-view map but they have other maps for the states which cost extra.

So I've been fiddling with the compatibility and the permissions.

When you Enable compatibility, I got the problem I had with weatherbug. The SureType keyboard takes up the bottom half of the screen which cannot be disabled or hidden BUT you are able to move the map around and the coordinates show where the focus point is currently on. You cannot zoom. Tapping has no effect and when you click the screen, it takes you back to 0°S by 0°W. And thats about all you can do.

When compatibility is Disabled, the keyboard is gone but you cannot move the map or do anything as previously posted.

Oh and it doesnt show your gps coords.

I guess I'd like to take a look at this, though it sounds reasonably useless unless I pony up the cash for a more detailed map. However, I havent been able to get the application to find the freebie map on my SD card. Where are you guys storing the map on the card so that the app can find it?

thanks
