Stinkin Skype!!!!

Sometimes Skype connects right away sometimes not at all. After battery pull Skype page opens with a ? in the middle of a person and it says connectiong Skype mobile. The arrows turn but no connection happens. I have pulled the battery five times over the last two days. No dice. What do I do now? I read somewhere else that there is a radio that has to be turned on. I downloaded Skype from vz apps because the skype.com version is not supported. Any suggestions are appreciated! This is making me nuts... Thanks in advance. Julie
