From what I can tell so far, Google has not released a BB friendly version. Which really stinks, as my friend with a Droid showed me that program, and it blew Starry Night away. From what seems to be happening with other Google related software, it's probably an effort to get sales of the Droid up.

    Hopes for the new year....

    1) Starry night revives the BB version

    2) SkyMap comes out with a BB version.

    Ah well....

In the meantime I have been using MicroSky.

    Default Starry Night

I tried the site today and it still has the same "Back in Development" message. I just upgraded to the Storm 2. I had a Droid 2 for a couple of weks, but I couldn't get into it. IMHO, BB kills all when it comes to smart phones, and the Storm 2 is a MAJOR improvement over the Storm. Anyway, I'm thinking of trying MicroSky but i heard it isn't as good as Google Skies or Starry Night.

Anyone know of any other APP for the BB that compares to Starry Night?

For those asking...they pulled it because the lack of a compass in OS 6 and earlier makes it so the Starry Night doesn't track like Night Sky does on Droid so I imagine they are redevloping it along with the new compass that is coming with 6.1 that will make it rock. Just my guess. I saw a lot of people who complained about Starry Night because they had also seen how cool Googles Night Sky was.

Sky-gazers and astronomy buffs can keep up with celestial wonders no matter where their travels take them using mobile technology optimized for these popular handheld devices.

The Starry Night Mobile Sky Chart allows users to view the sky from any location on Earth at any date spanning ten years in the past and future. Observation locations are determined by entering the name of the city, a ZIP code or latitude and longitude coordinates. Star-gazers can further customize their view by panning and zooming to reveal planets and constellations, the horizon or ecliptic line and celestial sights labeled for comparative review. Images of the sky are updated every few minutes by the Starry Night Server, providing a constantly changing view of outer space.

    * BlackBerry users can launch their built-in web browser and download Starry Night Mobile Sky Chart. (Starry Night Education | Astronomy Software | Starry Night Online) The icon will appear among other applications and different key strokes can be used to change views and time of day. Additional information can be found at: http://www.space.com/nightsky/blackberry.html.

    * iPhone and iPod touch users can access the Starry Night Mobile Sky Chart via the Safari browser at http://www.starrynight.com/iPhone or Apple’s Web Application page Apple - Web apps - All Categories. Aspect ratios adjust automatically to alternate between portrait and landscape views. Additional information can be found at: http://www.space.com/nightsky/iphone.html.

The original Starry Night Widget for the desktop is available on a variety of platforms, including Mac OS X, Google and Yahoo!. The Starry Night Widget has had more than 200,000 downloads since its V1.0 release in February 2007, averages approximately 30,000 users per day and is consistently one of the top ten downloaded applications on Apple's Dashboard Widgets. In addition, lunar aficionados will find the Starry Night Moon Exploration Widget currently available on Mac OS X.
Perhaps our Fearless Leader could do an update and find out WTH is with the Blackberry version. Seems they've "heard us" but it's surely been in "development" way too long for it to be a serious project for this company.

I'm sure the average CB member will get a canned response whereas Kevin should do much better

Sorry to drag up this old post. Does anyone have an OTA of this for the Curve model they could share?

    Thank you
