Default Question about my loosing memory

Hello all... I just have a couple of questions... I have read several posts where people say they have literally 20-30 apps installed and that they boot up with something like 30mb... well I have allot as well and was wondering if some of the apps that I have are memory hogs or have known leaks... because I boot up with anywhere from 5-15mb and lose it down to zero in a matter of a couple of hours.

So here are the apps that I have installed:

WeatherEye
CrackBerry
YouMail
Where
Snaptu
Google Maps
BB Maps
QuickPull
ScoreMobil Blackberry
GoodFoodNearYou
StormSimon
Food Network Canada
BrickBreaker
Word Mole
Berry Labyrinth
Ka-Glom
Blackjack
Sky Climber
Backgammon
Facebook
Poynt
Mango
App Store
App World
Google Talk
BBM
VZ Navigator

I also have the following themes installed:

3GStormV1
Blue Storm No Docks HT (info in my sig)
Grey Storm V2 (info in my sig) (active)
Rounded WB

OK so do I have WAAAYYY too much on my storm? or am I having some other issues?
I am on OS v4.7.0.148

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

im thinking weather eye, app world (not sure if the new one leaks), and having more than two themes installed on the phone can usually drain the memory. you can also check the apps that always run in the background by holding down the bb button. depending what it is, it could be leaking your phone's mem.

  1. install 151
  2. install 1 theme only
  3. you have 3 map applications installed, why?
  4. you ahave quite a few large games installed too, do you play all of them?
go from there, after step 1 you should notice a big difference

Thanks for the quick response... well usually if I allow them YouMail, BBM and Google Talk are running in the background but as of late I shut off GoogleTalk and Youmail... so that leaves the BBM, Phone, Home Screen, Browser & Messages that are running.

I've read that AppWorld can drain your memory but WeatherEye as well? man thats going to suck I really like it... ok I like the picture icon of the weather

I still think I might have to much... not sure though.

OK dont laugh at me... but I haven't done 151 because... well because I'm a little afraid I'm going to screw up my phone.
Yeah I have the maps to see which I like best
Most of the games both I or my kids play... but which are the big one's and I might just get rid of them

Again thanks.

yeah you should just save like weather.com as a favorite on your browser. no need for an app and always easy to find. howarmat also had a good point with 151 and maps. i say keep poynt because you can find good food near you without the app...goodfoodnearyou haha. and delete the games you really not play because it's just sitting in your phone taking up space haha

I find the road in the middle. Don't go crazy and be a minimalist (though some chicks dig this) run no more than two or three themes (your phone is plenty capable). Has anyone started a thread about apps and themes that have proven memory leaks? I would like to See a list!

there are plenty of threads about apps and themes causing leaks...

Most all themes uses to cause leaks until 151, now most leak a little if anything.

Many apps are bad on memory management, **** facebook was a big one at one time

If I were you, I will take a different approach. Instead of plunging into an unsupported OS (i.e. 151), you should uninstall all the themes first and see. You never know, installing an unsupported OS could potential introduce a different set of problems.

I don't have 151 and I have installed a lot of apps (except themes). But I don't have memory problem.

.151 has been the most stable OS I have installed. "Unsupported" is relative. It is only unsupported as far as Verizon goes, yet supported by RIM since it is an official OS for another carrier. I'm not bagging. I stayed on .76 for a loooonnnnngggggg time. Tried the leaks, but always had little issues where .76 was slow, but worked. Then finally went to .140 and the official .148. Personally, never liked .148 that much, although better then .76. Well, IMO, .151 was the OS that should have been sent out instead of .148.
