Default PdaNet for BlackBerry available

Emailed the developer of PdaNet and they now have a release version (supposingly a preview release that only works on Storm right now). You can find it on junefabrics.com.

Worked very well for me just like the Windows Mobile version, fast and reliable. It supports full Internet connection and you can connect with one click using the tray icon! Enjoy!

PdaNet -- Use your BlackBerry as a USB Modem

only $30 I used this years ago on windows mobile and it worked great.

P.S. a note from there site

"Currently this initial version only supports the BlackBerry Storm device through USB connection. Other BlackBerry devices and a 64 bit version will be supported soon."

I have 64bit so didn't download but all there products in the past let you try it for 15 days before you purchase it.

Default Speeds are slow

First time I tried it, speedtest gave me approx. 75kbps. Is there something I can do to make it faster?

Similar times with Tetherberry are 150kbps to 500kbps. (In the exact same location).

Thanks,

Bill

Buy TetherBerry, the software is much more reliable and they are working on a Mac version.

Just wondering where you get this info from? Did you try PDAnet? So far for me it seems to work the same as Tetherberry and it's cheaper.

I would also guess that PDAnet is working on a Mac version as there winmo version works on Mac over bluetooth.

I have no problem with Tetherberry, just wondering what you're basing the statement that it's more reliable on?

I would say they are probably equally reliable seeing how they are both doing the exact same thing.

I used to have it on my iphone, and it wasn't that good, lost connection many times. I talk with experience(Iphone), + now I have a 64 bit windows 7 which pdanet does not support.

Tried PDAnet out today. I am getting about half the speeds i was getting on Tetherberry. I tested at 450 kbps on PDA and close to 1000 kbps on TB.

Looking for more people to test this out, i'm getting the same speeds on PDAnet as i was on the beta Tetherberry. Did they improve the speed?

If it is faster It could be worth the extra money.

Question: Does pdanet allow you to connect to VPN's? Tetherberry won't at this time, they say they are working on it but how about PDAnet?
