Default Jdub Lock

Anyone try this out yet? How does it compare to the Storm Slider?

For the price? Not very well. It should be 2 bucks tops. StormSlider started out cheap and has progressively gotten more expensive with more features (custom backgrounds, weather, testing team, etc) and because of these features and the team behind it, it is more than worth the 3.99 price tag with it.

However, for 5 cents less you get a completely stripped version, ie JDub. It is fast, good on battery, and probably won't have many bugs as it is very basic, but again I don't feel as though the price it carries is justified considering it is direct competition with SS. I would fully endorse StormSlider over this product due to the sheer amount of features, effort, and support for such a modestly priced application.

From the name, I thought it was an app designed to prevent Jehovah's Witnesses from coming to your door.

Thanks for the input, I currently have StormSlider and I love it. It was just a new app that I came across and haven't heard too much about it.

I wanted to make make a quick update to this thread. The JDub Lock has now on version 3.6 and has new features that may justify a second look. It now has customizable themes to get the classic JDub look, an iPhone look, a RIM look, and invisible.

It is just as fast, and bug free. I would love some more feedback.

Interesting. Does this work with the native lock button?

I have had patternlock-just couldn't get a good feel for it, ultimatelock-had it's own issues, and SS-which was my favorite but got way too weighed down and buggy with all the extras the developer added to try and please everyone.

2 things I require: work correctly with the native lock button and portrait lock. Does this app have them?

How is this lock on memory leaks. I have tried Ultimate Lock and Pattern Lock and Storm Slider, but had to delete each after a couple of days because the leaks were massive.....Thanks.

This lock does work with the native lock button. When you press the lock to lock, the phone locks, and when you press the lock button to unlock the phone, the JDub Lock appears. The screen stays in portrait mode. I hated the switching back and forth between landscape and portrait.

I actually make this app after using some of the other products out there. I didn't like the responsiveness and thought they made the phone sluggish. So the JDub Lock was designed to be quick and responsive.

I am not sure exactly on the memory leak issue, I can look into it. I haven't had anybody complain about them yet. So it's kind of the "round about" method of saying no memory leaks.

Try the lock, if you use it and don't like it, then you are welcome to a refund.

Best,
Jack

I just purchased and it does everything I need except I do have a question. When I put my Storm 2 in the charging pod, the screen goes black and locks when the screen dims. Is there any way to change a setting so when it's plugged in and charging the screen does not lock? Great app but I'm used to the clock showing when it's charging since I use it as my clock at night. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

rckreisher,

I did a little searching, and this is possible. I'll add it to the next major release. In the mean time, you should be able to disable the lock using the menu option. If you press the Blackberry button, the menu will appear. From there choose 'Disable JDub Lock' and that will prevent the lock from appearing. Then you can re-enable the lock when you want to.

Best,
Jack

Thanks for the response. I have been disabling when I put it in the charging cradle and it works. If you could add this functionality it would be awesome. Thanks!

Yodatom,

To clarify, you are saying the Storm Slider drained your phone's battery, not JDub Lock. I've been using the lock for six months and actually thought the battery life was better compared to other lock options.

If this was a problem, please PM me and I can look into the details of this problem.

It would also be nice to have an option so the screen does not lock while you are making a call. I just noticed that you have to swipe to unlock the phone before hotting the red end call button to end a phone call. Just a thought. If this and the charging pod issue I mentioned earlier were fixed I would give it 5 stars!

Thanks.
