Default GPSed vs. InstaMapper vs. SMaps

Just wondering which app you all thought was best for tracking GPS routes for running.

    GPSed

    InstaMapper

    SMaps

Which works best for you, as far as general performance, accuracy, and battery life?

Or do you use something different?

I like the fact that instamapper automatically (and immediately) uploads the data to the server.
....and NO we don't need an APP for that!

GPSed can do this as well.

I have used all three and have found that the interface and features of GPSed blows away the other two. Instamapper is just a tiny list of text and Smaps is very stripped down as well. They all upload to their own website and can do live tracking through the website as well. Smaps lets you choose what activity you are doing (although car driving isn't on the list for some reason) and supposedly tweaks the settings for you. Instamapper requires you to get a device ID before using (annoying). They all seem to be about the same accuracy and you can tweak the settings to get better results. As far as battery life, I haven't done a long enough scientific comparison between the three (and I'm sure no one has) but I imagine they'd be very similar, with live tracking (uploading to website) being a bigger drain.

If GPSed (free) can upload automatically, it isn't obvious (LOL). I know the pay version can, but...all I was able to get the free version to do is the manual uploads.

GPS ed does upload on the free version. Just set up a free GPS ed account and log in through the app. It also can post the URL to facebook and such. Kinda neat if friends want to track you in a race

gpsed worked ok for me.. I did a quick run gpsed told me it was 2 miles even. i went to gmaps-pedometer.com and did my route. it said 2.16mi.. close enough for me i suppose as my run did have many curves...

edit: just caught the date of this post, it was the first that came up on google.

I have been using SMap from Sanoodi on my Storm and old 8820 for nearly a year now, have been given the beta of their version 2 to test which has some cool cycling features (autopause and quickstart). I use the twitter function and live routes the most. I tried GPSed but it didn't work as smoothly (may be better now though).

I like GPSLogger. It is very accurate when I have used it.

Instamapper dies after pressing the escape key for me. I had to use alt+esc to go to homescreen to keep it running. Not much options inside the BB app as well. GPSed is very bloated for my uses and it can only track one device for one gpsed userid.

Moostrax is similar to instamapper but the bb app is more refined and integrated into the system options menu. It can detect and send updates based on time and distance between new location, saves on data at nights when we are sleeping and not going anywhere.

It's impossible to exit you can only log out which is great for stealth stalk--monitoring people.
