Default Garmin (and I searched)

So i searched and read for the past hour and haven't found my answer. My question is about the software. I see on the site it says it's good for the "lifetime of the device." So if i buy it, and like a week later my phone breaks and i have to get a replacement, and i screwed or does it download to my sim card/memory stick so i can just reinstall it on the new device? Basically, will it switch over if i get the same phone (physically) just different different unique id/pin?

Thanks in advance!

you can reinstall it on the same phone (same exact phone, PIN and all) by emailing Garmin support. I've done this twice already with my Curve 8900 after restoring from a nuked state. As I recall, they will allow you one warranty replacement if done through your carrier customer service. If you change phones on your own, you have to buy a new license.

Does this help?

Yeah, that helps. So basically, if my phone like craps out (not reapairable and i get a replacement phone) or I upgrade (within a year of purchasing the software) i can get it back w/o purchasing it again?

as I understand it, only for a warranty replacement (crap out)...

From Garmin's website:
Question: How can I transfer my Garmin Mobile for Blackberry license to a new phone?

Answer:
Garmin Mobile is offered as a one time purchase for your Blackberry. The license applies to the first phone on which the application is activated. If upgrading to a different Blackberry, the license expires and must be re-purchased if continued use is desired.

If a phone is replaced by its carrier because of a malfunction, Garmin can transfer a license to the replacement device. This transfer must occur within the first twelve months of activation and is at Garmin's sole discretion. Garmin allows one transfer of this type for each license. In order to transfer a Garmin Mobile license, please contact technical support.

To find out more about the Garmin User Terms, view the Garmin Mobile for Blackberry EULA.

I have Garmin, that I installed on my first Storm, and have had it carried over on a total of 3 warranty units.
2 of the 3 times, Garmin sent me new activation codes. The third time I used some backups to restore it onto the replacement phone.

I've had 2 S1's and then after a year, upgraded to the S2. I bought Garmin in Dec 08 and just used device switcher to move all my stuff from one phone to the next. Garmin has never stopped working.
