Default Free sms texts

i tried searching but couldn't find exactly what i was looking for.

Is there any way to circumvent the standard text message service on verizon, i pay 10 bucks a month and it seems pretty stupid considering i could have a billion emails at no extra charge. I want to know if there is a program/service/trick where i can send/recieve texts without it registering as a sms text through verizon. And no, bb messenger is not an option for me because most of my friends do not have blackberries...yet.

EDIT: Should have put a question mark in the title so as not to confuse, my bad

I have not tried this *on the Blackberry browser* but there is a known text message service available from vzw.com which lets you send SMS directly from the website. Try visiting it in the mobile browser and see if it works !

You have the bb service. Just make everyone text you to the vtext deal. What is it. Yournumber @vtext.com. Then reply to that email address.

Default Google.com/voice

The best app for free texting IMO is google voice. Setup an account and configure your settings to forward all text messages to your email. When you reply via-email, your friends will receive it as text on their phone.

You can easily cuircumvent this problem by emailing them a text message. Here are the addresses you need to email them to for different carriers.

This also works well if you would care to text, or MMS from your home or office computer, and not have to type on the little phone keyboard.

Alltel
[10-digit phone number]@message.alltel.com
Example: 1234567890@message.alltel.com

AT&T (formerly Cingular)
[10-digit phone number]@txt.att.net
[10-digit phone number]@mms.att.net (MMS)
[10-digit phone number]@cingularme.com
Example: 1234567890@txt.att.net

Nextel (now Sprint Nextel)
[10-digit telephone number]@messaging.nextel.com
Example: 1234567890@messaging.nextel.com

Sprint PCS (now Sprint Nextel)
[10-digit phone number]@messaging.sprintpcs.com
[10-digit phone number]@pm.sprint.com (MMS)
Example: 1234567890@messaging.sprintpcs.com

T-Mobile
[10-digit phone number]@tmomail.net
Example: 1234567890@tmomail.net

US Cellular
[10-digit phone number]email.uscc.net (SMS)
[10-digit phone number]@mms.uscc.net (MMS)
Example: 1234567890@email.uscc.net

Verizon
[10-digit phone number]@vtext.com
[10-digit phone number]@vzwpix.com (MMS)
Example: 1234567890@vtext.com

Virgin Mobile USA
[10-digit phone number]@vmobl.com
Example: 1234567890@vmobl.com

I'm sorry, but I don't. You might be able to logon to their site and search for it though..

Agreed. Google Voice would be a great route to go for you.

If you can get an account.

Everyone who has a Google Voice account should now see 3 invites they can pass around to U.S. based folks.

Shouldn't be as hard to get one.. plus, friends of mine who have been signing up on the GV website have been receiving their invites from Google in 7 - 10 days during the last month.
