I really like the bubble look of crunchsms. But I still have the messages go to the native sms for archiving (I need to archive my conversations for possible reference). Again, unfortunately when I reply in crunchsms, my side of the conversation is not saved in the berry's native sms program, so I can't archive it into an ipd file.

That is my only complaint.

Cheers,
B.D.

Highlight the conversation you want to delete and hit the BB key and select "Delete Converstion".

I don't know why but my native bubbles option doesn't work. Do you have to do a battery pull after to set it to bubbles? Also, could someone post a pic of what the native bubbles looks like to see if its even worth it?

Just install it and if you don't like it, delete it. I think it is cool. I don't like the way it brings up MMS but I emailed their support and they said that will be fixed this week.

The only thing I don't like about Empower's version is, you have three downloads to do to get the program. I'm not sure about the size of the files compared to the one file download for crunch but it seems like a waste of space if you only have one program of Empower's. About crunch being free, it may not be when they get it all done and out of beta. Who knows, but if it's as cool as they say it's going to be, i'd pay for it.

Even though its cosmetic I like it more. With the native SMS its won't allow me to scroll to the top of the conversation, it will stop at a point the scroll to the most current. With this I can look back at a text from days ago. And its been updated so that you can set a notification/sound/ringtone so you know when you've received a text. As soon as they fix the mms issue then it will be perfect.

Sure thing, crunchsms employee. LOL!

But I actually did install it and I'm liking it a lot. I like how the predictive text isn't as pushy as it usually is. When I text I usually use a lot of slang and foul language and the native SMS app would take forever to catch on to what I'm trying to say.

Are there any known bugs or problems that I should know about? It seems pretty solid right now.

Arrow Packaged download vs Individual downloads

I generally never comment on threads discussing other apps, but I will attempt to reply to this query about the Empower app here..

Empower Threaded SMS app is packaged into 3 cod modules that are provided as independent download. The same 3 modules can be provided as a single download too (all you need to is change a few lines in a text file). This is what developers generally do. They package all their cods in a single download. Please note, this does not increase or decrease the size. Most end users are not even aware of this technicality and mostly they don't care.

Now, why the 3 modules are provided as independent downloads is because the Empower Threaded SMS app supports not just one Bubble Theme but multiple themes. So, if you want to install only the iPhone style Bubble theme, you can download only that. If you want to install the Classic Smiley theme, but not the GTalk style plain theme you can do that. This actually means that by packaging it separately users get the option to download only the exact components they need. This means lesser space than they would otherwise use up if everything was packaged as a single component!

Again, please note this is not an attempt at all to compare the two apps - Its the first time I have heard about CrunchSMS and have not yet tried it. Plus I believe, users are the best judge and everyone has their individual preferences. Some think size, some think features, some think price, some think fastest support etc.. So you are all welcome to try the CrunchSMS app as before

Best,
Ani.
