Go to Options (the wrench shaped icon) > security > Firewall > then place check next to SMS. You do NOT have to enable the firewall for this to work.

NEXT open messaging options. Open the messages inbox > BB button > Options > Inbox Settings > place a checkmark next to SMS/MMS. The reason for this is CrunchSMS can't handle MMS (multimedia) messages, so these messages will now appear as normal in your messages inbox. Don't worry, your text messages will not go here, because we blocked them with your firewall settings.

Lastly, highlight your SMS/MMS icon press the BB button and click "Hide." then just move the Crunch SMS icon where the old icon was and you should be good to go. All your previous notification profiles will transfer seamlessly.

I have the blackberry style 9670, with the OS 6.0 from sprint.
I'm having trouble trying to get my mms to work with crunchsms, because my sms and mms are combined into one app rather then being separated into two different app. I've downloaded the new version of crunchsms (2.21), and i went into my phone: options> security> Firewall> ( to actually be able to click on the "block incoming msg" i have to click the enable button. Once i've enabled it, i can click to block the incoming txt msg. Once i do that, all my txt msg successfully go to the crunchsms app, except for when someone sends me a MMS (picture msg), it will not go through to my txt msg app that the phone came with. I've gone into my: email option > incoming messages and licked on the txt msg to see if that will allow the mms msg to go through...but no luck.

So i'm at a loss. I went to the crunchsms website, and read: "On OS 6 phones (e.g. BB torch), when you disable the txt msg you do not get ur MMS at all. How to fix it? The firewall settings have changed in OS 6, i.e. SMS and MMS are not two separate settings. If you block txt msg then both SMS and MMS are blocked. For the time being dont block txt msg." And this is kinda whats happening to my phone.

Is there anyone who knows how possibly to get around this???? any secrets?? or an i just plain stupid and the answer is looking me right in my face?!?!?!??! HAHAHHA frustrated

i'm having the same problem. i have a 9300 and OS 6.0 and now if i block txt messages, i no longer get sms messages. so i have to disable the firewall and then i get my messages in two places. i'm going to have to uninstall until this gets sorted out. too bad because i REALLY love this app.

Angry Get crunch off!!!

I've had nothing but problems with my phone since I D/L this! I tried to upgrade, phone freezes up and Im just so tired of it (despite the cute little bubbles).
Here's my problem, I can get it uninstall it fine. But my regular SMS doesn't work now. I can send texts but can't get them at all.
I've seen some posts about people getting texts from both Crunch and native SMS, I've NEVER had that, nor can I get regular text at all now.
So I've reinstalled the Crunch, that now is holding me captive if I want texting at all.
PLEASE HELP ME!!!

CrunchSMS seems nice, but I frequently sent out texts to a group. My group doesn't show up in my contact list in Crunch. If I send a text to the group using the native SMS app instead, all responses come back to crunch and I don't have the original text (from me to the group) threaded anywhere in Crunch. Am I missing something and it is possible to send to a group (without entering each contact name individually)?

Also, I always use the SureType keyboard in portrait mode (on a Storm 9550). SureType comes up when in the conversation, but when entering the name of the recipient when starting a text, the portrait keyboard is MultiTap. Is there any way to keep it as SureType for everything? Multitap is annoying.

Crunchsms does allow you to keep typing until you are done and then it will separate it once it gets to the receiver of your text, but shows as one long text on your Crunchsms screen.

This an outstanding sms app because it allows you to use your contact pictures, customize the background, change font size and a lot of other great choices.

You should try the trial version before you buy it. I have been using since I got my first blackberry. They update regularly. The only thing missing from it now is a way to separate the sms and mms on the Torch and they say that they are working on this.

Is the CrunchSMS really worth getting? I don't have a data plan, so it automatically connects to the internet using TCP but, I don't want it to connect to the internet! Whatever does it require the internet for... I don't need the ads (on the free version) either. So, it feels like it's eating up my prepaid amt too fast. D":

However, I do like its layout and the fact that it's customizable.

I would like to know from anyone who's using the paid version if it requires connection to the internet even after the ads have been removed?

If you haven't figured out, here's how:
Go to Settings of Main Menu (The folder with a gear icon)
Then Options (wrench icon)
Then Security Options
Then Firewall>Disable>Check SMS and MMS

Let me know if that didn't work.
