Default Can't get Hotmail to work on Storm - Any help please!!!

I've deleted (account and service books on both Storm and BB VZW website )and reconfigured several times, sent new books, etc. For some reason when I reconfigure it has my older mail available but nothing from the last few weeks. I have a full, upgraded Windows Live Hotmail account. Gmail and vzw.blackberry.net mail work fine.

Is there a set, step-by-step, bullet-proof procedure to ensure it works?

Default "Call Support"

As you know, they are fairly useless. Still looking for some help!

I set mine up through the bis website. BlackBerry Internet Service. I configured my hotmail account there and then sent the service books to my phone. In about 10 minutes i received all of the mail in my mailbox. I hope this helps.

Hotmail still has issues sending notifications. The main thing you need to make sure is no other computer (at home or work) has LIVE or MESSENGER running or even OUTLOOK with your hotmail set up. Hotmail will only send 1 notification and its either going to go to one of those things i mentioned above or your blackberry if all of those are off/signed out.

Mine works fine, but I have a paid ($20/yr) premium hotmail account. I know that was needed for hooking into the iPhone and other mail systems. Gets rid of ads & spam too.

The solution that I did was to activate the vzw.blackberry account, then forward my hotmail to it.

I appreciate these informative replies - especially this one. Mr. Doe iii, does that mean I should also log off of or delete Windows Live Messenger on my Storm which logs on with my hotmail account?

I just got off the phone with Verizon on this issue. I have 9 windows live mail accounts and they randomly stop receiving email. The rep said that Microsoft stinks and I have no hope of it ever working reliably. The log shows errors in their interface to live mail, but neither they nor microsoft will try to resolve. Other than switching to gmail, he had nothing to offer. I don't recall seeing in the marketing materials that blackberry supports hotmail only if you don't care about 1/2 your messages.

On my desktop I use the windows live mail desktop client (which is quite nice) and that client receives all messages. Has anybody got their multiple live mail accounts to work reliably or will I be forced to move back to gmail (I know most people choose gmail over windows live, but live services coupled with the windows live destop client is very nice). Any advice?

Thanks

Good Day,

In regards to the info you received about hotmail and the requirement
to be logged off to be pushed your email I must say this is my experience:

1. I have hotmail / gmail setup on my Storm
2. I am almost always logged into Windows Live Mail
3. At times I have w-Messenger running as well.
1a. I don't use msn premium account only the free one (for 6 yrs)

I get email pushed to both accounts AND they resync within a short
period of time (ie I delete from BB or Email client). I also access without
a problem through the web so.. you solution lies elsewhere.

ensure you set your account up via bb Site:

bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw&locale=en

Give it a try but don't worry about being logged on // off...

My experience aligns with that of the post above in that I can have the Windows Live Mail desktop client running and and receive messages on both of my computers as well as the blackberry. It's just that that only works sporadically. It most definately isn't a winner take all race though as I've seen all three mail clients (2 home pcs and blackberry all receive the same test message). It's a moot point for me anyway, as I use the windows desktop client because it syncs nicely across my home computers and the web interfaces. Shutting all but one down is not an option.

I did check the email configuration on the website as suggested by the previous post (i had originally setup the accounts on the phone). They all look good for what that's worth. I'm blackberry newbie so was scared to resend the service books as I don't quite understand them yet. I'm going to try a different tech support guy in the morning. It's ashame that they advertise working with live mail - they put out all kinds of press releases of the summer - then say that it doesn't really work and nobody on either side is interested in debugging.

On the bright side I finally managed to download my windows live mail contacts to the Blackberry. It's frustrating that you have to jump through some hoops to do it, but fairly simple as long as you have an xp computer available. I assume that Blackbery will support Vista contacts directly at some point.

Not sure why some are having issues, but I just want to put out here that I setup my hotmail email through the bis.na.blackberry.com site. I also have the Windows Live mail client running all day at work AND I have my messenger running all day too. So far I have not had any problems. This is the exact same way I had it setup on my old 8820 with AT&T and that worked fine too for over a year. I've never set up my accounts on my phone. I always do them through the website.
