| | Will Sprint be the only iPhone-less major carrier?
AT&T is buying T-mobile. T-mobile customers will obviously be able to get the iPhone and any future models.
(This may take a year to finalize, but it is coming)
Verizon already has the iPhone.
Sprint will be the only major carrier without one unless they bring one to market in the next year.
I certainly hope so.
I know many feel Android is better, and some cling to their Berry's, but Apple makes nice, user friendly products that definitely attract customers.
I will most likely be jumping on the Nexus S when it comes, but a 4G iPhone (meaning a future model not the 4G model) would be a serious consideration when 4G coverage hits my area (regardless of being LTE or Wimax). Well, so much for Sprint and T-Mo merging. I left Sprint for AT&T as a result of their recent fee increases on customers. I now have the iPhone and am totally satisfied with both the service and the phone. It is also now costing me less each month for my 5 lines of service and the plan I need. Maybe now VZ will merge with Sprint, then Sprint will have the iPhone too!

Is T-Mobile USA getting the iPhone?
T-Mobile USA remains an independent company. The acquisition is expected to be completed in approximately 12 months. We do not offer the iPhone. We offer cutting edge devices like the Samsung Galaxy S 4G and coming soon our new Sidekick 4G.

If they were gonna get it (anytime soon) they would have by now. Basically means VZ struck some kind of cdma US exclusivity

The only thing that Sprint would potentially have of value is the iDen and PCS spectrum, and now it would be better for all to wait for Sprint to die to buy it out, or wait for Clear to die and buy them out. Sprint has pretty much painted themselves into a corner with this unholy Clearwire partnership... They may as well go all in on it now and see how long they can sit at the table for.

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com | no they didn't the deal was non exclusive. I think one of the big reasons Sprint won't get it is because their network couldn't handle the iphone data bog down on their network. Considering theirs is not as significant as verizon and att (with the newly acquired tmobile to add to that will make it even better for iphone users).

i also read that Sprint is fighting this deal that att&t and tmobile since they were in serious talks with tmobile. It's not a done deal yet, gov't has to approve it.

Do you realize how ridiculous that sounds?
Just because nobody mentioned exclusivity agreements doesn't mean they don't exist.

Just because nobody mentioned exclusivity agreements doesn't mean they don't exist. | It was already said that there was no exclusivity deal when Verizon got the iphone, either from Verizon or Apple I can't remember.

However, that doesn't mean that Sprint refused it because they would get too many paying subscribers. That's ludicrous.
It could have more to do with the fact that VZ sales did not meet expectations, which means Sprint sales expectations would have to be significantly lower than VZs...

There will be no mass exodus from AT&T to Verizon for the iPhone, and Verizon isn't going to swipe millions from other carriers just because they offer the phone. They're pretty much competing with their own Android lineup.

Yep, they more or less cannibalized their own sales. And it's a guarantee that Sprint's expected sales would be much, much lower...

I would just continue to put my eggs in the Android, RIM, and WP7 basket and I'd definitely be pushing for a HP WebOS device.
Edit: This was the first weekend sales # compared to AT&T that same weekend. These are from the busiest Apple stores in the nation, so while its a small sample, the data is valuable.
All in all, 55% of the new iPhone owners came at the cost of previous VZW Android owners (30%) and Blackberry owners (25%) Exclusive: Verizon iPhone sales fail to meet expectations | BGR Quote:
