Default Using TOUR overseas?

Hi all,

I'll be going overseas. Seems like sprint has a 70$ int'l data plan now. I was wondering if skype would work? if not what are other options to keep in communication back in teh us?

thanks

No Skype support on Sprint devices, only Skype app I know of ATM is Verizon's and is US bound-no international service with it.

BBM and PIN messaging are viable communications tools overseas.

The skype apps, even if we have them, are pretty useless as they are not true voip..they require a call to local call center to initiate the voip link... If you want cheap calls and texts then simply get a local prepaid sim card at your destination..
As i recall the tour does not have wifi...You would be better off with the 9650 as then you can at least have poor mans international roaming.. Wifi + local sim

Try Whistle phone. I believe they have a BB app so you make calls directly from your BB. You can make up to a 20 minute phone call to the US from overseas for free. All you need is a wifi connection. I've used it on both my iPad and iPhone and it works great. Good luck!

Food for thought. Thanks.

Also, I'm curious, what/where is that picture in your avatar? I like it.

Last month I was in Europe (France, Turkey, Germany) for 26 days. First, I don't think there is any $70 plan...this was cancelled. Even then this was for
data only, voice calls cost 1.6-2.5/minute. What I do is to use voice only for
emergency situation. DO NOT USE WEB or any other web based application.
I just used BB email. Did not open large attachements and deleted junk without even opening. Texting works $.50 for sending $0.05 for receiving.
This was very reasonable. It cost me about $70 extra operating in this fashion. Also, learn how you can manually search for provider for GSM in case there is a connection trouble, sometimes a battery pull helps too but
most of the time it works with no help.

Call SPrint international before you go so that they can activate you for international travel ( no cost).
