Using Sprint Blackberry 9930 outside US

I have confirmed with two sprint CSR that most of their phone - excluding iphone - are unlocked.

I am travelling to Asia right now and using a local sim card in my blackberry bold. The voice calls works but not the BIS.

Anybody can help on this ? I used the sim card on my friends unlocked TMobile blackberry and works right away both voice and BIS.

a buddy of mine just picked up a used 9930 from craigslist from the sprint network, and he is in canada like me.

with my sim card (rogers network) everything worked great, but his sim card(fido) it would place calls but no data transmission. he ended up calling fido and they had to resend the service books. then finally it started working.

call your provider and ask if they provisioned the sim card correctly and ask that they resend service books

give it a try

If I do that, when I go back to the states, it should work with sprint network right away too right ?

you need to call Sprint customer service and have them enable international roaming and international data.. it is two separate line items..alternatively get data over wifi
