Unlock ATT Blackberry for Sprint

Gave a friend of mine a Blackberry 9800, but they are on Sprint network. She can get a unlock code. But when she called Sprint they told her to use the unlock code she would have to sign another 2 year contract with Sprint.

Is there anyway around this?

9800 is a gsm device and sprint is cdma,so it will not work ever on the sprint network.

igotberryfever is totally correct. You can only use sprint devices on the sprint network. If they were gsm or hspa they would be able to use that 9800 ..

Sprint cannot provide her with a SIM card (and service), because Sprint doesn't use SIM cards. Sprint uses a different technology called CDMA.
